I agree 100% with what you said. I jumped into the "Muzzle-Loader" field myself due to this new concept. and I really feel that it's a game changer for sure!!

My "gut" was to be against the Firestick at first. But a rethink changed my mind. Here in Michigan they are legal. I am a mostly BP guy having built several kits and use an 1864 Springfield that is accurate and hits hard. Yes, I was a bit of a purist and snob about it, but the decades have taught me that if this (firestick or other modern variations of BP shooting) get you "into it", then how is that a bad thing? Secondly, back when I was in college and working part time for the Michigan Dept of Ag, there was a concern that the deer herd was getting to small for the number of hunters. So a program was started to increase the size of the herd. It was successful. Fast forward 50+ years and the Michigan deer herd is way to large. And the hunting crowd is shrinking. Talking with some farmers here, they said the loose $5000 per year to deer eating their crops. So anything that helps cull the herd to me is a good thing. And maybe along the way it just might revive an aspect of shooting that can be living history.

a SCH40, .622"ID, .840"OD, 1/2" pipe, 3" nipple, taper ream chambered to fit a fire stick & or 28 gauge shell its based on a 3/8" washer, to shut the ATF up & a 3/8 to 1/2 pipe bell reducer to attach all of this to a SCH40, .493"ID, .675"OD, 3/8" pipe barrel, you can rifle out to 50 caliber

I want to get this muzzleloader for me to start to learn the basics of muzzleloading. However I cant get over the fact that if the firestick gets discontinued, I know have a $600 paper weight. to my knowledge there isnt a conversion kit or anything if this was to happen.

Haven’t seen this on shelves in over a year. Is it going to become more readily available? Also, it’s illegal in most western states for hunting. Is that going to change soon? Thank you

We have both the 100 and the 120 grain Federal FireSticks in stock. We are also expecting a shipment of the new Traditions NitroFire VAPRs to arrive early next week. Traditions is working to make the FireStick legal in as many states as possible, however, due to the strict regulations of most western states, the legalization of the FireStick ignition is not looking like it will happen any time soon.

The fire sticks themselves come in a pack of 10 and they cost about 20 to 30 bucks. That’s expensive to shoot.

It has to be a fire stick, compatible rifle. And the rifle itself cost between $500-$700. And the fire stick realms come in a pack of 10 and they cost between 20 and $30. That is an expensive gun. Specially, for what they call a muzzleloader and the rounds himself cost between two and three dollars a piece. That thing would be expensive to shoot.

I haven't seen this before, do you delete the breech plug?

Correct, muzzleloaders that are compatible with the Federal FireStick do not have a breech plug.

Doesn’t this just turn your muzzle loader into a shotgun?

This will get a lot more shooters into the muzzleloader scene. It won’t ruin the sport any more than crossbows have. My prediction is more people will get the big and will will move on to more traditional rifles and wearing buckskin. They will have long beards in no time!!

It’s not a muzzleloader. It’s a single shot black powder rifle. It’s missing the whole point of muzzleloading. For all of us that do hunt with a muzzleloader it’s about the experience of muzzleloading. If you’re trying to make a muzzleloader like a modern rifle would it make better sense just to get a modern rifle because at that point it’s obvious that muzzleloading isn’t for you. You will never get modern rifle performance out of a muzzleloader, but it’s not about modern rifle performance. It’s about appreciation for muzzleloading in general. My muzzleloader is a CVA wolf. It has iron sights on it, and I use 100 grains of loose powder. It can vary depending on the load. And I use a patch and ball. I make all my ammunition. I’m not looking to hit targets at 500 yards with a muzzleloader. All I need to do is drop a deer at 100 to 150 yards. Or if I’m just shooting deer in the summer or spring I’m just out having fun. Don’t give me wrong. I love modern rifles. I even have a ours SKS is even have shotguns and pistols. But instead of breaking the bank, go simple. Buy you a $200 muzzleloader learn to shoot a large load it experiment around. Get you a bullet mold, cast your own rounds and go out and shoot them. It’s all about having fun. Keep it simple and keep it fun.

I don't consider muzzleloading if you put your powder in at the bridge point then then put the bullet down the barrel that's not muzzleloading why don't you just put both of them at the bridge call the breech-loading black powder rifle instead of a muzzleloader

This is an absolutely terrible idea. I can’t believe that they are able to convince anyone that it is a good idea to pigeon hole themselves like this. Let’s see why don’t we not only create a “muzzleloader” that can only use one type of propellant, lets also only be able to acquire it from a manufacturer that has proven supply issues. I was disappointed when I couldn’t get Blackhorn 209 and I had to develop a Triple 7 load to hunt with out of my favorite muzzleloader, but I could do so. Without Firesticks you have a pipe with a stock and are headed to the grocery store instead of the treestand. I may not always be able to get the components I want but I can get by, anyone with a NitroFire or CVA’s new Crossfire can stay in camp and cook. No you can’t borrow my spare either. As a side note somebody please develop a competitor to Blackhorn 209 and don’t sell out to Hogdon. I don’t have an issue with Hogdon they make, well now they make, all of my favorite powders and it scares me. I really don’t like having all of my eggs in one basket.

Can't find any percussion caps and flintlocks are too expensive.
@BuckHunterExtreme Жыл бұрын
@@johnwoodward4175 I understand your challenge and frustration. You will still need 209 primers and projectiles for this but you are locking yourself down with yet another required item that only has a single manufacturer. This means that should a supply chain issue occur you are out of luck. At least there are multiple manufactures of 209 primers, percussion caps, powders and projectiles so chances are that you should be able to get by even if it isn’t with your preferred brand. Can’t find Firesticks you have a fine wall hanger and you are sitting at home instead of on stand.
