Federal Signal Touchmaster Update

How do you have power wired up to your control head? Is it a battery or do you have an alternate solution?

I’m using a 12v car jumper battery. Works well for this application.

RAD is for radio rebroadcast you turn it on when you got out of you police car you could here dispatch. The times before we had walketalkies

The RAD. Is for your radio (police/fire) work radio so if you are on scene the dispatches can be heard through your p.a.

I did that after the app came out for a unmarked car for a agency I can say. Even the criminals didn't know it was under cover. The speaker was a just as good. Your on the right track brother.

Jef Mat Valid question, I used it to show that you could use it in radio re-broadcast. More of a for fun application.

I have all 3 siren apps. My favorite is the TouchSiren Delta. I use an old iPod Touch witch has iOS 9.2 on it, so all 3 apps still work 😄

They are pretty fun. For a while they weren’t compatible with IOS 13, but thankfully that bug was squashed.

Will your phone be hooked up to a Soundoff Signal Nergy 400 maybe if it has that you will demonstrate the Sample Siren SLM on the Soundoff Signal Nergy 400

I only have a SoundOff 380, but I would do it, except the mic is not removable, so I can’t plug any auxiliary devices into it.

SB Strong Channel I found a 2 pack of them on eBay for $10. I took a quick look just now, but none are being sold at the moment, but use this as a search and maybe more will pop up later, "Federal Signal unitrol plastic slide switch knob". That's what mine were listed under. Best of luck!

the RAD switch is for radio rebroadcast. it takes the audio from the two way, and outputs it to the PA speaker

I think, and I'm not an expert by any means, but if the officer needs to be outside the cruiser, but they aren't getting good reception on their portable, that could be a useful feature. Thats assuming the department doesnt have radio repeaters in their cars, which would simply take the radio signal from the radio system's tower as the VFO input, and push it out at a higher power as the VFO outfut. they also call that a VR or Vehicle repeater

Patrick King The app is “Simple Siren” by Mark Simon. However, it has not been updated for IOS 11, so it does not work with the latest update.

How come when I tried this on my code 3 RLS it blew a fuse and got hot ? I think I just f Ed everything up

TheBmarquez I'm sorry to hear that. Can you tell me specifically what you did and what connections you made?

I just plugged my phone into the PA mic port with an adapter for it too fit like you did.

TheBmarquez Well, that's odd. It shouldn't have blown a fuse. Not sure why it would do that. Hopefully replacing the fuse will get it working again, but that's a mystery why it would not work.

Yisroel Birnhack It should work for the 5s, IF you do not have IOS 11.0.1 or so or later. The app is not supported for that unfortunately. It no longer works on my phone. Sorry.

I'm sorry but I'm asking a lot to do but that video where you showed where you took off the cover and had those little five or six little switches I did not know about that and that helped me a lot I would like to see if you could do step by step how to wire each wire and what the wire is and where it goes and stuff like that because I am kind of lost like I said my apologies I appreciate it very much thank you sir

I saw your video last night and wanted to try it. So today I went to Best Buy and bought the adaptor and it works to a certain extent. When it's playing it plays like it would with the headphones but when it cuts out it's still plugged in but when you hit play to resume it plays on the phone and not off the touchmaster out of the speaker. It's like when you have headplugs in and you unplug them and you hit play again it plays out of the phone normally I can't figure it out I really have to play with the Rad Off And Pa switch and I'm not sure if wiggling the Plug for the mic is making a difference. I have some videos of what it's doing I wouldn't know how to send them to you.

joshua47315 It seems to me that the mic input is causing the issue. It's probably loose or has a loose wire. Have you tried connecting a mic to it?

allintodrumsandguns No I haven't because I don't have a mic to connect. Is it something if I open the box it will be noticeable if it's loose? Is it something that can be fixed possibly?

joshua47315 That's a good question. I haven't had that problem with any of my units, but if you open it up, the jack wires are fairly easy to see without disassembling everything. It's possible you could spot a loose wire...or it might be the metal arm is bent out and you can carefully bend it back. Also, a possibility.

Where did you get that cord that hooks into the PA slot into the touchmaster from the phone?

Empire Gaming I got it at my local music store. But, just search 1/4" to 1/8" aux cord and that'll be it. Amazon or eBay should have it pretty cheap.

Empire Gaming go to a audio store or Electronics section. It's a head phone jack with worth the other end for a stage amp.
