Its great to see Federal Signal going back to its roots. When the move to make the pods stationary with single point LEDs was made, I thought it was such a bad decision. The pod light bars of the 90s were way more visual. This Vision SLR brings back the rotating lights + the endurance and low energy draw of LEDs. My opinion for Federal Signal is if you are making these light bars in the future, never move away from rotating pods, and keep those LEDs (Mainly the white's) bright.

They should make a split Valor. Even more so they should make a combination Vision/Valor. Valor as the base with Vision domes on top. Best of both worlds.

Si vis Pacem Para Bellum really all they had to do was put LED bulbs in place of halogens to get a brighter light with the same pop as rotators

It's a great lightbar but for the price tag that comes with it, you could deck out the entire vehicle 360 degrees for much cheaper overall.

There are a few more upgrades than just the LED thing. But the v-shape is like the vector, yes. Like linear lightbars look like other linear lightbars. Or tires look like other tires. And people look like other people. ;-)

Clearly, since you never learned that you very easily "out run" your siren, i.e. go too fast for the siren to be effective. Light will always travel faster than you.

@fedsigpublicsafety Will you be releasing single pod versions of the SLR, that would be able to replace the old style halogen rotators on the rear of fire apparatus? I was would like to see ones that alternate flashing red/amber per rotation...

there should be some devise that used the radio that overrides the music playing in the car and tells the driver there is a emergency vehicle behind or in front and to say give way.

Thanks for the info. Does the SLR beacon have the ability to flash 2 different colors, or if not, will that be a new feature? Because if it can switch between red/amber while rotating, then I'd be very interested.

Lightbars on fire apparatus are good long-range warning devices, but this video shows that at close range, apparatus lightbars are completely out of view of drivers ahead of the truck. Dimmer (non-blinding) lights at eye level probably accomplish more traffic clearing.

i think this type of bar is most effective on a police car due to it being at a regular vehicle height

If you look at the light bar, you see a small mirror hover over the light when rotating to help lower the light flash into a smaller car.

I noticed that there was green on that lightbar, although I do not believe that green is a color offered on the Vision. I thought it was only red/blue/white/amber. Is green a special order?

The VSLR beacon is available in single color only and the has the ability to rotate. At this time, we do not have plans to make it multi-color or flashing.

But they work way better and use less energy. It's probably the flash patterns previously not possible with incandescents and reflectors that make them "fisher price"

Ive got to be honest, these light bars stink. Lots of money for something that halogen warning light did 15 years ago. The only way ive seen these to be very affective on any type of firetruck, is the way FDNY uses them. They have 3 bars across the entire top of the cab. The two 4 head bars on each side, and a 3 head bar in the middle. Red and White combo, and they work very well. Day or night. By themselves, or just 1 bar on each side really doesnt do the trick of moving traffic at all. The thing is, you never advertise them the way FDNY uses them, and its the best way these light work. It might be something to look into. Because the E ONE Tower Ladder, and the Pumper looks like nothing was on during the day, and the only ights that really shinned where the lights on the Platform. Pumper looked flat out dull in all zones. Not good FS, not at all.

Chicago has these on the chief SUVs & my opinion is they suck turn very slowly & just not bright, the LED version is much better

God these lights are horrible. Where does FS get charging these prices AND advertising this bar as "bright" when you litterly can't see them during the day. Seriously at code 3 you can't see them until the truck is almost on top of you.
