I love this low angle. It really gets you to appreciate the spin and weight the pros put on the ball. It wouldn't work for match coverage though because the opponent would be too far away to see clearly.

He split steps every time, he has a very early racket preparation, he swing all the way through, he place himself at the right place every time. He practice his strokes and is very committed. He might look casual, but he is hitting exactly how you should hit a ball. Technique is a major factor part of tennis, and he just does it 100% correct. You may see Nadal jumping around the court to hit his über topspun forhand, that takes raw power to do that, and some big muscles.

He's actually playing pretty hard in his practices. He just always looks so smooth and effortless, whether it's practice or game time.

I dont know about Fish but, do profesionals players try to do something new sometimes? Do they think about what new moves they could do? All has been discovered in tennis? I know "pratice" may mean doing the same things again, but, I would like to see some pro trying something new. Of course, I try, but Im not pro and cant really play "seguido".

Look this isn't training this is practice. There is a difference. When Federer is practicing it looks casual, but I imagine it is because he just trying to get a feel for how his shots are at the given moment. He isn't trying get in better shape or work on movement. When he is practicing it is purely so that he can be hitting his strokes the best he can by the time the later rounds of the tournament come around. Also he looks effortless when he moves, but that doesn't mean it is effortless.
@Tesla_Death_Ray11 жыл бұрын
are you? that guys comment was factual. roger is VERY casual when he practices. ive literally never seen him practice intensely for more than a few seconds. interesting how many idiotic fanboys voted that comment down simply because it has "roger" and "doesnt give a shit" in one paragraph... regardless of meaning >
@Cardshark4511 жыл бұрын
Tell that to the man whose won 17 grand slams and holds the world record for most number weeks in the number 1 position. "Doesn't try" my ass. It's a training session for christs sake of course there's going to be mistakes. What matters is that he's able to pull through when it comes to the real thing.
@tvtotalforever11 жыл бұрын
if i was a top player, i wouldn´t train with roger because he just doesn't try ^^ He doesn't give a shit about balls going to long or into the net. I wonder how he can be so effective and consistent on the court when he hits that way in training sessions with other guys
@Globox82212 жыл бұрын

Fish became sooo skilled, an amazing tennis player, just before he had a long hiatus. Just... his shots, his movement. Only weakness was sometimes his serve was suspect, at least from a tv perspective. He was what Federer would look like with a 2 handed backhand, and better volleys, slightly worse ground game. Unfortunately, he disappeared from the court, and never had the chance to win a slam. I believe he could have. Oh well. We still have footage of this amazing player.

How is the opponent on the other side of the net too far away to see clearly with this angle? I can see them clearly. It's better then their typical horrible aerial view where I can't see either opponent clearly, and I feel like I'm in the nose bleed seats. This angle is awesome. It puts you right in the action and makes you feel almost like you're there. Feels like you're in the EXPENSIVE seats up close.

Somewhat interesting to note: walkovers do not count as wins, so even though Federer reached semifinals of Australian Open, French Open, Won Wimbledon, and Quarterfinals of US Open, he only won 19 Grand Slam matches in 2012. If walkovers counted he would have won 21 Grand Slam matches in 2012 (he also had a walkover in Australia). Federer won at least 20 Grand Slam matches in a year from 2004-2011. Remarkably, he hasn't done it since.

i disagree. maybe not this exact angle.. but i've seen televised tournaments have a low camera angle where the whole court can be seen and involves very little camera panning. I think they should show that angle at least 40% of the time. You just can't appreciate the athleticism and power of pro tennis from 100 feet in the air

The problem with his comment isn't that Roger doesn't try hard during practice. It's that he acts surprised that Roger is so much less effortful in practice compared to matches, when the reason why he's so is rather obvious.
@huhuluihuhu11 жыл бұрын
He's trying to get the feel of the ball, weather, air pressure etc to get used to the bounce of the ball. Different surfaces and conditions produce affects the ball's bounce, pace and spin. Surely your coach told you this?

I recently noticed the same thing while trying to imitate his BH and FH on court, it happens that even though he uses quite open/classic grips that shouldn't give him much spin, the angle of the wrist on both his FH and BH allow for a more natural upward motion instead of the more common "through the ball" motion for such grips. You can see it on the high take-aways on some BHs he does. When I noticed that wrist-angle and applied it my BH improved hugely, it got far more natural pace and speed.
