Such an amazing treat to see. Roger just floats on the court so elegantly. I can't wait for 2014.

Great taping! I was there for that 2 hour session...it was awesome! Ironically, the court where he made quite an impression before the tourney, he also lost on to Robredo a mere week later in the 3rd round. Perhaps but hopefully not the last time we'll be treated to a Federer warm-up!

Federer uses the split-step so efficiently, that's why he moves so gracefully on court.

I really like the editing of this! :) by the way, I'm in your shot a few times haha, my dad and I were three rows behind Rog to the right...we were also filming on our phones

yeah..I was at this session also...very impressive and quite a treat. You would never gather that one of his worst performances to come would only be a week later at this tournament! Still luv the guy!

I haven't seen a backhand like Wawrinka's in a long time. It is remarkable. While a two-hander is easier to produce strokes with, Wawrinka's shows what a weapon a one-hander can be.
@sultanabran110 жыл бұрын
the only disadvantage a one-hander has is when it's high. the next generation of players will be able to handle the high topspin backhands, as you see with dimitrov. one-handed players usually have a more complete game.

Wawrinka has stated many times that staying in close contact with Roger was one of the main reasons for his grand slam success. Perhaps he never would have made the leap to the elite of the elite without his friendly rivalry.

Why do u think roger influenced wawrinka clear talent? I mean obviously not. Sure they r good friends and federer is stan idol but thats it
@coinrotator2 жыл бұрын
@@robinsoncruise2228 Wawrinka had very little fight in him for many years of his pro career. It was only when he saw Roger dip in form and re-emerge to compete with Djokovic and Nadal did Wawrinka follow with his renewed self-confidence. Watch Wawrinka in tight matches before 2013,you won't recognize him.

Todo el video es para verlo a Federer, hubieran dedicado algo también a Stan the man, q también tiene una técnica excepcional.

Who's backhand do you guys/gals think is better ? I currently favor Stan's
@laxlegend9310 жыл бұрын
Stan's is definitely more of a weapon.
@sultanabran110 жыл бұрын
if you look at only the topspin backhand, then wawrinka's is better. for sure. if you look at the entire backhand side, then roger's is better. more variety. nadal is the only guy that really exposes roger's backhand.

+jochooi federers backhand can be deadly at times, while wawrinkas...you will most likely be defending from his XD

Fed lost to Robredo in the 4th round. I was at this practice session and I was at his 3, love and 2 dismantling of Mannarino in the 3rd round...

Roger’s forehand was better before he changed his racket in 2014
@antoniorivera164610 жыл бұрын
Roger needs to get inside the baseline to win another Grand Slam staying back off the line = no Grand Slams.Too many back steps not enough on the rise hits like he just too. He change his game to win the French and now can't get back his aggressiveness.

Why is Rog hitting so many open stance forehands? I thought he was a closed stance guy.
@titomaquito507910 жыл бұрын
hes just practicing
@warrenvazquez10 жыл бұрын
he can hit either way. a lot of his forehands in matches are open too
@sultanabran110 жыл бұрын
the modern forehand has a more open stance. the shoulder rotation still exists, but not like it used to be. the power comes from the pronation of the wrist. see when the stroke starts, the racquet lags behind the wrist, then flicks through. if you compare the mens forehand to the womens, you'll see the women have a much longer stroke and the wrist doesn't release till well after contact with the ball. in the mens game, having a long stroke is not possible because the ball comes back too fast.
@warrenvazquez10 жыл бұрын
don't know if that's really true. e.g. nadal gives himself the space and time to make a very full take back very often. also, top players anticipate their opponents shots very well, buying them time to prepare. but of course when under pressure, they abbreviate their strokes effectively.
@sultanabran110 жыл бұрын
Warren Vazquez that's why del potro was able to neutralise nadal at shanghai last year. he hit hard at nadal's forehand and didn't give him time to wind up. without the big wind up, nadal couldn't use his weapon.
