Watching this match and the US open semi later in the year really shows Federer’s defense had lost a step and needed his serve and forehand both in form to win. In his prime his defense was so good he would still easily win even on bad serve days. Still awesome to watch the points here when all his gears are clicking.

Lemme help you, the balls were changed in 2011 RG which favors heavy servers. This was the reason Isner became first man to take Nadal to 5 sets in RG and look at the final it was Fed's best ever result against Nadal in RG. The balls were switched back to default in 2012 and Fed lost pretty badly there. Now it shouldn't be hard for you to understand.

According to (some) Federer fans, Federer getting 1 win out of 5 matches against Djokovic in 2011 at the “old” age of 29 means that he is the goat. But the 10 other times that season Djokovic beat Nadal or Federer are irrelevant..apparently 😭 All jokes aside, this was a magical match from Federer. Maybe the best ever clay match I’ve ever seen him play. Djokovic was nearly unstoppable up to that point, beating Nadal 4x, Federer 3x, and winning 43 straight matches. It would have been Federer’s greatest win ever if he beat Nadal in the final. Instead, I rank Wimbledon 2012 as his greatest slam.
@nikosofidemporasКүн бұрын
1. he was almost 30 having already 12 years on the tour on his back and following his worst year yet and people called him old (in the Tennis world at the time 30 was very old). 2. Djokovic was in his ultimate prime 3. We didn't call any win irrelevant 4. Why are you guys so toxic?? Are you real Novak fans or Tennis fans? Why don't you go and watch some highlights or matches of him or in general that you like instead of just flooding comment sections with your toxicity and your superiority complex?

The argument is the grand slam h2h. That us open match was a 50:50. Without it, Djoko would trail 1-2. In the Bo3 matches Fed didn't play at 100% because he was older and was prioritizing the GS tourneys (he had been doing this since 2007) while 2011 Djoko was playing as well as he could.
