This is the clearest best lesson on ‘Help the Poor’ that I have seen. Other teachers ‘blast’ through their examples focusing on their own ‘virtuosity’. Federico generously shows us the chords the scales, but also gives us insight into going beyond just playing scales…….like ‘tasteful’ notes and arpeggios that really add to the ‘colours’ made possible.

Thank you so much for a great video. I'm trying to move beyond diatonic progressions. Have been trying to learn and use the altered scale which has been rather difficult. The idea of figuring out the common notes and the extras to use at the appropriate time will help so much. I'll be working on that. Greatly appreciated!

I just subscribed to "the man with very very dangerous English". This is the first time I've seen your channel. This is a superb lesson, thanks very much! "Ask for a lesson on arpeggios. Or any other lesson requests.". I would watch any lesson you want to publish! But having thought and knowing the clarity of your explanations/demonstrations ... at the moment, it would be this ... I feel like I am priming a Chat GPT instance to create a specialized virtual assisitant .,. I saw two videos from a very talented guitarist. He likes to be a bit abrasive and has a wierd sense of humour but he's fu**n' brilliant. In two videos he ontroduced a simple formula to find the right mode for improvisation in particular ponts in a chord preogression that were revelations to me. However, they're still not in my playing an a deliberate way. Further lessons and 'real world' examples of using these ideas in different songs would help a lot. They're beautiful sounds that I can imagine bringing into numerous genres, once I can grasp them a bit more. I'm sure there are hundreds of examples in really great songs by people like Robben Ford. Half of the trick, (okay, I lie, but maybe it's the important first step) is defining where they are being used in order to differentiate them from all the other cool sounds heard. In this video on secondary dominants, he introduced using the Mixolydian (for major), and the Mixolydian b2 b6 (aka, Phrygian dominant for minor) kzbin.info/www/bejne/j4OreH6mhsmNr5I and in this video on sub dominants (as he calls tritone substitutions) he uses the lydian dominant through the change. kzbin.info/www/bejne/qXmvi4msncpjpqM I'm sorry if I appear to be plugging another channel. but that is the best way to prime both you (Frederico GPT) and your audience for your response, if you do so. Oh. There's one more. There's the use of harmonic major or harmonic minor to play through diminished passing chords kzbin.info/www/bejne/oKipcptqe65nnZo These theory introductions were brilliant but too brief. they're not 'under my fingers'. But, YES. I woul dlove a lesson on arpeggios. Thanks, Tim.

Going into the bridge, there is a passing chord just before the G minor 7, can you identify it? I would love to know it! Thanks.
@FedericoMemme Жыл бұрын
I need to re-listen the song, easily it could be a D7 ( maybe altered) or an Ab7 🤗
@jakollee Жыл бұрын
@@FedericoMemme thanks, I think on the album version it’s the keyboard that plays a passing chord there, though in some live versions RF plays a chord there sometimes as well.
