Hey Fed.... Nice chops brother. I have worked this tune since 1973 when I was 18 years old and saw Billy play somewhere in NYC. And since then, every guitar player I ever saw play with Billy live, showed me something new. You have done that in my friend. I watched your riffs 5 times back to front. I keep a decent stable of axes here. 57 Tele, 62 Strat, 66 Strat, 69 Gibson along with a couple dozen others and who knows how many vintage acoustics. At my age now, 65, I do tend to go more towards Jazz playing. I took my first guitar lessons in 1972 from Harry Leahy, who is a jazz master. Passed away in 94. Check him out. And my good friend, Walt Bibinger, who you can find here. funny that Walt and I are about the same age and 30 years after our taking lessons with Harry, I was again taking lessons with Walt... You remind me of Walt's playing techniques and attitude. You are a very good teacher. Where the hell are you? I have a place in Algeciras, Spain, Greenwich Village, NY. and in the mountains of PA. I get around a bit. Europe, etc. Send me a note on FB or other way you can find me. Maybe touch base. Very nice stuff you do here.

I saw BC in Detroit at Alvin's....small place with maybe 200 people.....decades ago 1980?...and I can still remember the cool attitude and vibe.....the entire band was confident and loved their jobs..

Try to play natural F# minor scale over it for example if you want to get in fusion area...

I do this lick but I’m not really sure what mode it is. The notes are… B C Eb F# A G# E Those combination of notes.
@FedericoMemme3 жыл бұрын
@@harryowen6538 it really depends if you wanna play an outside lick to create some twist or if you want to stay much more consonant. If i play i lick with those notes, after that probably i will go for bluesy and tasty thing to return in the key. 🤗
@FedericoMemme3 жыл бұрын
@@harryowen6538 the notes you play i think they’re good but not really a “mode” but a mix of phrygian dominant ( B C Eb ) and dorian ( f# a B e )

He doesn't play it like Tommy,but he plays the key licks,and demonstrates various modes and methods of improvisation,which was the spirit of Fusion in those days. There is a repetitive riff Tommy plays several times real fast during solo that that I've never heard any other guitarist play.Sure would like to have that demonstrated! Great job,great lesson! Thanks He doesn't play it the same as Tommy,but demonstrates the various modes,and plays the key licks,which was the spirit of Fusion in those days.Excellent lesson! There is a riff,or pattern that Tommy plays real fast several times during his solo that I've never heard other guitarists play. Would like to see/hear how that's done!It's played on keys also. Thanks for taking the time to give us a lesson in Fusion!
