The place is called Externsteine - Teutoburger Wald in germany. Maybe you like to try the song Odin from FAUN with Einar Selvik from Wardruna. One of my favorit songs of this band.
@matzek.32203 жыл бұрын
Oh Ginger you did not upset the Germans, at least not me 🤗. Actually your pronounciation of Federkleid (literally feather dress, meaning the entirety of the feathers of a bird) was really good. Faun is pronounced like gown with a f instead of the g. I'd really love to meet you guys, if you should ever come to Germany.

Oh cool. I have been listening to Faun for years. So Faun has actually made a colab/mashup with Einar Selvik, you know the Wardruna guy. The song is called Odin and is definitely worth a look. Other notable Faun songs are Walpurgisnacht and Egil Saga (The one that made me fall in love with them). For a deeper diver there is Hymn to Pan and Andro. Their older stuff is very much the more traditional medieval sound, while the newer songs are more pop/folk sounding. This is the kind of music I listen to a lot, especially for going sleep too.

In the video you can also see that it was filmed at the Externsteine, an interesting place where artifacts dating back to the Stone Age (10,000 BC) were found and which was also considered sacred by the Germanic tribes. I have also been to these rocks and they have something magical about them.

1:31 where ? she is sitting on top of the "Externsteine" in the Teutoburg Forest (where united Germanic tribes defeated and destroyed three Roman legions in 9 A.D.), a magical and powerful place and sacred to our ancestors and used for determining the days of winter and summer solstice

Well, I am not German (that I know of, but dad did say that we have some "black dutch" somewhere in the woodpile), but you did do pretty good with the pronunciation of Federkleid. Was just recently turned onto FAUN, and I definitely dig not only their style of music, but their videos and style of dress; I definitely don't mind that they are pagan. When it comes FAUN, I can and will say this: "Was ihre Musik angeht, ist alles, was die Band FAUN macht, fantastisch!" (When it comes to their music, everything that the band FAUN does is fantastic!) Hopefully, I didn't butcher that too badly. Haven't spoken or practiced my German since around 2012.

Her voice reminds me of Candice Night from Blackmore's Night. If you like this, I think you would like Blackmore's Night. And yes it is Richie Blackmore from Deep Purple and Rainbow. He does what they call Renaissance Folk music these days I love this sort of music 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 Yep it is a Hurdy Gurdy

@@zahransIndeed, Fiona in 2020 taking part during and after a long period of 20 years and Katja in 2017 after a period of 4 years leaving the band as Faun members. Both voices blended terrificly together in that short period, and that is what I have been missed in the years after 2017.
