Im 80 yrs old,when i was young in the 1950s all the men used to wear fedoras, but the in the 1960s most me started wearing the afro hairstyle and ditched the fedoras. Now its the damn baseball hats and we dont even play baseball. Im happy to see the Stetson hats making a comeback!

I am a woman and I buy all my fedoras in mens clothing section at Nordstrom rack, Bloomingdale’s, etc. I have made a lot of guys cry in the store. I snap the goods ones up so fast. Goring bros hats are my fave. ❤️✨👌🏽👌🏽👌🏽👌🏽

Nice video and great information. I'm 74 and like the classic snap brim on those rare dress up days. For every day wear, I like the Outback/Safari look. I recently picked up a vintage Akubra Dallas, which is a flat, no pinch crown and I put a flat brim on it. Also, I'm in Kansas, so western hats are common here & I like mine a little different. Anyway, really enjoyed your vid. Keep up the great work. Lets bring back the Fedora.

Great video. Many of the "Gentlemen"channels have very specific rules as to when to wear a Fedora. I'm 60 and have seen very few worn during my life and I would bet most people my age and below know nothing about the old proper etiquette. While I do plan to whear mine vintage gray beaver fur Stetson fedora only with my sport coat you have given me the confidence to do so. Thanks

I do love the Indiana Jones fedora look. It has a rugged, yet classy look to it that you can wear while out in the wilderness or to dress up for going out. I will say that Stetson makes a great hat for the example I just mentioned. It's called "The Temple". Great video.

I enjoy wearing Fedoras and Trilbys year round. I'm also bald and just think a hat keeps people from staring at my chrome dome. They notice me rather then my lack of hair. I use to wear hairpieces but at 70 I'm not interested in that route anymore. But I still want something up top.I like the old films of the thirties and forties and how they wore Fedoras back then. So I like a tilt with a snap down look. I do wear them straight at times like you demonstrated but unlike you I wear it back rather then down to my eyebrows. I did enjoy your video and will watch others.

Very cool. Thing about nice structured formal hats is that one needs to be mindful of where one chooses to uncover. Wearing a nice hat like the fedora to the office, a friends home or at a coat checked event are usual places that can accommodate a resting structured nice hat w/ little fear of crush damage. Otherwise one may have a lot of lap and hand holding in their future.

You can snap the brim in several shapes. Down all the way around, up on the side and down around, up on the front and any other combo. I like the Stetson Hemp hats for summer. Either the Open Roads or Aviators. They come in a few colors .

Thank you for an informative video. At 73 years along, I’ve been wearing fedoras for probably close to twenty year. Losing one’s hair and wearing glasses, (the inevitable passage of aging), one needs top of head protection and keeping the elements out of one’s glasses. Wools/ felts in the Autumn- Winter and straws in the Spring Summer. Don’t worry about the calendar months, your head will inform you as to when to change the materials. Once one gets self confident enough to wear a Fedora you’ll go crazy seeking them out. Don’t lean into the expensive hats at first. Stick with the $30-odd hats until you find your style, and only then indulge in the nicely lined higher end hats at $100’s. Just some thoughts ….

Great Video. I have been wearing all sorts of wide brimmed hats for the outdoors since I work in the Desert sun. As for the Fedora since I have a broad face, I favor a wider brim, 2 and 3/4 to 3 inches. This also provides me with a little more shade. Parenthetically, the common myth as to why men stopped wearing hats in the cities was due to JFK not wearing them. Perhaps why many are going back to wearing them can be attributed to Indiana Jones 🙂🙂

I just bought a hat and I'm between sizes. One fitted me just right, but I felt the bottom of the dimple hitting the top of my head. I went up a size and the hat sits lower, which I feel more comfortable. I just feel as if there's a gust of wind its gonna come off. Should I have went down a size or is it ok to rock a fedora a little loose. I can fit a finger between my head and hat.

Good video, as a brim guy, I can give you a quick rule of thumb. You talk about when to wear a fedora, well a fedora is a casual hat so it can be worn at any time & with any outfit. In contrast to that, the humburg or "godfather fedora" is a formal hat so it should be worn with a suit. Also as a side note, technically the "indiana jones fedora" is a fedora & not a safari hat. It is just the older 1920s/30s style with the 3" brim, the trilby style with the stingy brim didn't come into fashion until the late 40s & grew in popularity in part due to Frank Sinatra which is why it is sometimes referred to as a "Frank Sinatra fedora" there are many styles of fedora ranging from western fedoras similar to your "open road" center dent, to your tear drop "trilby" & so many in between. Crown shapes of gambler, telescope, diamond, teardrop, center dent ECT. To brim sizes ranging from 3½" wide brim all the way down to 1½" stingy brim & everything in between. The fedora is probably the longest lasting & most widely worn hat of all time. & Ive been enjoying them for over a decade now. Once you start wearing them, it becomes an obsession.
