Ailee is definitely one of the best vocalists today. She's well rounded. Her mid belts are amazing, her lower register is really nice and her head voice, her best register is well developed. Her agility is good, maybe the best I've heard for a Kpop singer. Her sense of support is very strong, even above C5, when she usually pushes and sounds whiny. Great video!

Nice Lower Register Incredible Mid-belts Gutsy Upper-Belts Admirable Head Voice Surprising -scream- "whistle note" Quite the vocalist! She definitely has the potential to be one of the best. If she eliminated the constant pushing especially in her upper belts, she would even stronger as a vocalist. She just needs to eliminate her chesty mix tho. She's ok until E5, but on that and higher her chesty mix make it a lil bit hurting. Her head voice is pure, and the most to find its freedom i think. Her low notes is decent too.

It seems that people try their best to demean Ailee. See all of her performances at Immortal Song and you will see that she is an excellent singer. Analyzing shows / tour is difficult, as in most of the videos she was already tired and it's not easy to keep her breath up all night (remembering that Ailee never uses playback, so first of all analyze ;))

There’s actually a significant difference between her vocals from early/mid-2019 and late 2019, her concert tour pretty much >>>>> the rest of the year. The quality of her voice is now on par to her pre-2016/17 vocals. She got her nodules treated, went on vocal rest, and seemingly adapted her voice better so that’s partially why. She never regressed though, technically.

mh g wait, so she did have nodules. Kinda figure tho, using that chesty mix constantly in her upper belts, hope she would lighten up a bit more. Pretty much every performance ever since late 2017 to mid 2019 she was fatigued during her performances due to undesirable placement and constant pushing and hitting notes above her connected range.

@@musikavatarethan well its definetely a heavier one, but its definetely a gead voice. Its like when a man shouts A5 or Bb5 that like for women. Check Park Ki Young's C6 belten (kinda belted) notes and you will see what I mean. But I think she can go as high as C6 if she lightens her mix a bit more. She pushes too much and uses a chesty mix. But lightening it she could possibly manage to support and resonate higher and belt also higher. But its her stylistic way to use pushy notes🤔

@@fellm9233 What I was trying to say was that whenever she belts these days, it sounds as if an excess air is coming out of her throat. Back in 2013~2016, her voice sounded clear and resonating without any additional sounds, but these days, her belts don't sound as stable and smooth as her past years and sound as if her vocal cord muscles are not strong enough to keep at its position. I think that started to happen in 2017.

I think in 1:50, it sounds thicker either because she's already been singing the song for at least 2 minutes and feeling tension in her vocal cords or she's just opening her vocal cords more.
