as always the coolest part of touchdesigner is how easy it is to map data to parameters and convert data between formats. as a TD beginner it didn't occur to me until now how powerful it is to control parameters like particle position using a texture. will be lots of fun to extrapolate these ideas to my own projects so thank you 👏

For whoever gets a Cube shape when they add the second level. You have to turn off Clamp Input in Pre.

Great tutorial dude!, as usual. If I want to use an image instead of random grid like an initial shape, how should I do it? Let's say I have a tree(moviefileIn.png) and I want it to take movs like this.

If you're not seeing anything rendering around 5:19, try turning on Add Points setting in the Add node

Doing everything exactly the same (I think), but I have a warning signal on render "A MAT uses texture coordinates, but the SOP being used with it does not have UV attributes." Does anyone know how to fix this?

make sure you have compute normals on in the op add1 post. hope this helps

wondering if anyone have the same problem, when I insert the slope TOP in the feedback loop, the displace TOP only shows a gray color, and I check many times, all the set I do as same as the video.😂 And I try to adjust all the parameter on slope, I find when I set the sample step to 0, something shows up, it's lots of distort lines😂 what might be the problem🤯

would be very tough with this setup, i'd recommend using the particledgpu instead!

When you said take the line mat and turn off draw lines my brain went ∞

You should try to turn off and on the reset slider in Feedback top, it helped me

hey how come ur drop down panels isnt eating up screen space like men, the line mat panel really eats up Alot of space when i click it...i wanna do split screen screen but i can barely see anything properly cause those panels cover much space

You can click 'P" letter to close and re-open the parameters window whenever you need. Also instead of splitting the screen, you can right-click the final top and click View. It will open as a small window, it's much more compact.

This looks so cool, but I tried to follow all these steps (tried it twice even!) and then at 5:19 when there should be a dot, I see nothing... So all that happens afterwards, nothing shows on my TOP viewer :( I must be doing something wrong still.

also its importent not to just add the geo comp, one has to add it by right clicking on the output of the SOP. then you get the correct connection from sop to geo
