Heather is game standing behind the cows without a raincoat on while she trims the cows' udders. 😂 I did laugh when you tipped the cup over and spilt the milk Doug. I think you need another coffee. 🤣 Thanks for the video. It is very interesting to see how much work goes into milking cows. 🥰

Heather is awfully quick to get out of the way when a tail goes up when trimming udders! 🤣.
Wonderful job today. You two get it done all day everyday.

You're very lucky you get to farm like that still... it's how I grew up but it's not viable for me because my family didn't own the farm

What market do you have for your milk? I've always wanted to dairy farm on my own but at a small and manageable herd. I grew up on a dairy till we sold the cows in 99... now I help run a dairy with 250 milking but id love to just work for myself.

We don’t ship our milk anymore we process all our milk into cheese on the farm. Where do you milk cows? Thanks for watching!

How do you tell visually the milk is ok or not ok at the strainer? What are the things that you usually look for?

We strip the udders on all cows before milking into a cup that has a fine mesh screen. You can see any problems

Happy new year to you and your family. I'm new to your channel was wondering what breed are your cattle. Thanks for the videos

Happy New Year. Our cows are Normande. We also have a couple cross bred cows.

Your cows have beautiful markings what are they? I am going to guess semental breed.

They are Normande. Mostly pure bred but we do have a few cross bred cows also.

Do all udders grow hair like that or is it certain breeds ? I've never seen that before.
@balfourfarm11 ай бұрын
The normande cows tend to be a bit hairier than other breeds. That said they love the cold.

How do you know when they’re done milking? About how long is it to milk one cow?
@balfourfarm11 ай бұрын
It takes about 5 minutes per cow on average. The bottom of the milking claw is clear so you can see when the milk stops flowing.
