I have a 4 year old female Dane and she was easy to potty train when I used the kennel and had a nice day time potty routine. She picked up on it quick.

When we got Simone, she was 2 months old and only had 3-4 pee accidents in the first month we had her. Great potty training! As to food, we also did adult food as the Breeder suggests it do to the growth rate with puppy food vs adult food for these amazing dogs! We just had Simone spade and tacked.

Hello love Finn and Magic. When I had Danes I use to buy crib mattress for them and crib sheets. Worked out well because I could wash the sheets.

I full agree with crate training I never did it with my Staffordshire bull terrier and he was mustard to train but I crate trained my English bull terrier when I got her and she was toilet trained within 1 and half weeks and now she uses her crate as her wee safe haven we leave door open and she just goes in when she tired or can't be bothered lol

I'm late to the party...gotta love finals for the semester! Two weeks and then another semester starts! Great way to end the term though, to see these two gallivanting around! ☺️ Have used Pro Plan before, but not now. It is just EXPENSIVE! Ours are on a great food that is about half the price for the same amount of food...

I would get the large breed. Not giant. Adult food, never switch.

Mike, your Danes which bloated was that after the gastropexy? how did you know they were bloating? I was always told after the first year, raise the bowl and an hours rest after the meal. also, after two years gastropexy / neutered for males. thanks and have a Great Dayne

Lots of opinions. Bloat was in Danes without tacked stomach and after 6 years of age. The one that had the surgery then bloated again but was tacked so she just had to be tubed to release the gas. I won’t do any more life saving surgery on bloating Danes. The post surgery 18 months she had were not great and I was scared every day she would bloat. When they bloat they start dry heaving and just saliva comes up and you can see very much a distended rib cage and look twice the size they normally would.

Looking into getting a Great Dane in a few months... something I’m worried about is them pulling on the leash and pulling me with them! Or them seeing another dog and getting excited and me not being able to keep them under control.. any tips? Gonna get my puppy trained, but will this be something that should make me reconsider a Great Dane?

I have a female Great Dane. She started to pull me when she hit 5 months..I put her on a prong collar and she got way better.. so much better that now I walk her on a lead and it works. All it takes is the right tools and patience.

Wondering why Magic’s ears are “pinched” and Finn’s are not. I’m not inclined to crop my Dane’s ears - I love him just as God made him.

Some Danes which are for the show ring get their ears cropped in the first few weeks of life. It is illegal in many parts of the world and a disqualification for shows. The US has just not caught up to that yet although some are showing their Danes with natural ears. Magic originally went to a show home but did not work out as a show dog so we got him at 7 months. We prefer natural ears.

I agree. My breeder would always push for 18 months to 2 years I guess. Finn was the latest I ever waited and it was on his one year birthday. Nice present. He started to mark in the house with two males in the house. That decided that. 2 would me amazing if the behavior is tolerable.

Mine is 11 , lots of issues with his skin conditions , but he is still fit , eats a lot , drinks a lot , will not want to go to bed until i am in bed ! The vet , after a biopsy , 800$ , said that i have to cook for him , even the treats ! So , i have to bake his treats with oatmeal , tuna can or salmon.... Allergies against beef , chicken , flour , and lots more 😒😒😒

You should be feeding your Danes from a feeder that is at least a foot High ..Its not good to feed from ground or drink from the ground Get a feeder for them .. Just a Note not being critical
