I had a pigeon for 10 years I saved him from a hawk attack... He was the best pet ever he took a bath every day and would sleep inside at night and I built him a big day cage outside. I miss him a lot..

thank you for you great video. It was the most useful one I could find. I rescued 2 baby pigeon than were dumped wrapped in newspaper inside a plastic supermarket bag, on the street. Think they are about 12 days old. Having trouble hand feeding them, but I am going to try this method next. Good to know how many times to feed them a day! Thank you.

Sorry for the late reply Naruto - I fed them "Roudybush Formula 3" - it is an excellent formula!

Rufus - apologies for the complete lateness of this response! For the sake of others who may read this, I usually scatter seeds on the bottom of their cage/box/nest area (they have to be small enough for them to eat e.g. not sunflowers - I usually use budgie seeds mixed with sorghum and safflower) even when I am still feeding them. They are naturally curious and will start picking at them, eventually actually swallowing them.

Jason - oh my god....that is just absolutely awful. I'm amazed by the lack of love, compassion and empathy some people on this planet have. But it is well and truly made up for by people like you who try to help them. How did it go?

Maro0ned...I'm so sorry for the late response - what was the outcome? They can be quite difficult to raise at this age. There are 3 really important things at this age - warmth, humidity, and food. I recommend adding probiotics to their formula at this age. If they are newly hatched and haven't been fed at all by their parents, probiotics are absolutely necessary for them to survive. The first ever feed they get from their parents is basically just probiotics, similar to humans and colostrum....

I found 2 abandoned feral pigeons about a week ago. I'm guessing they are about 10 days old. When is it time to feed them seeds? What kind of seed is best? Thanks.

make sure they get grit when they are older ask a pro they need it to digest their food

Also, the formula will need to be more watery at this age, gradually working up to a thicker consistency, which can make it hard to feed via a tube because it generally just runs out of the hole in the balloon,. At this age I personally crop feed them. But that is very risky, even if you are experienced. I would recommend taking to a bird carer experienced in raising baby pigeons - but you have to be careful who you take them to, as some ppl euthanase pigeons because they are considered a 'pest'

@str8up2a2z Hi there! I buy it from a local pet produce store. It's called Roudybush Formula 3 ...I think it's an international brand so you should be able to get it overseas, but maybe not. It is a really good formula, so well worth looking into seeing if you can get it. :)

cont'.....You'll know they've learned to feed themselves when you go to feed them and their crop is absolutely bulging with seeds (you can feel it when you touch their crop)....then you can stop feeding them formula...but always check their crop to make sure they are continuing to feed themselves.
