We ran out of corn silage 2 weeks ago. Been doing the same here. Chopping a load every day to feed the cows. Cows went down on milk some, but think not as much as they would have if I switched to feeding more ground corn and hay/haylage to make up the difference. How long until you take off the rest of your corn? Looks pretty green yet.
@farmerspov47094 жыл бұрын
Yeah, same here 😉 we will harvest this friday. Yes, the corn in this field is still pretty green, but the one we bought was damaged by hail, so it started do dry earlier.
@hofschankwiedenhof65574 жыл бұрын
Wow🔝👍 are the cows producing the same litres of milk with the fresh chopped corn? 🤔 Greets and keep up the good work👏🤘😁
@farmerspov47094 жыл бұрын
No, actually they went down on milk a bit, but probably also because of the change of feed. Thank you 🙂

What decisions went into you going with that style TMR mixing wagon and not a more standard style and then using a shear grab bucket on your front end loader?
@farmerspov47094 жыл бұрын
Use of only one tractor for feeding and being able to lower the trailer (for backing up in our older part of cow barn, which has lower ceiling).
@saibgl3 жыл бұрын
Hey ... its really wonderful to watch your videos. Very interesting :). I have noticed that you use single row corn silage harvester, is your tractor is 50 HP or what's the PTO power needed to operate the forage harvester.
@farmerspov47093 жыл бұрын
Great, glad you like them 🙂 yes, it has 50 hp, its strong enough to run the harvester and pull the trailer, but you might go faster with stronger tractor 😉

Someone would have to drive tractor and feeder wagon along because it cannot be attached directly to forager 😀
