This is a very good introduction. I am on the verge of starting a worm farm. Could you please show us how you started from the beginning Thank You

Great video I’ve always thought about using the wedge system now seeing yours I might try it 🇳🇿

It was experimental at first, but I like it so much that I probably won't use any other system. It makes it easier to feed the worms since you always add food in the same direction.

I've never seen a wedge windrow for worms--clever! I don't get BSF here, although I get other bin critters like roly polies and millipedes. They munch through the leaves I use for bedding. Do you ever add eggshells as a pH buffer? ~ Sandra

I know that a lot of people add egg shells to their worm bins. I've never added them to my wedge, but I'm not opposed to it. Do you think it would help to add crushed egg shells to the area that the apples and citrus fruit are in?

I think the bigger problem with apples is they off gas as they decompose. As you said, they smell and the worms won't get into them. I definitely think eggshells buffer pH, but I think it's a rolling effect, i.e., the eggshells you added 3 months ago buffer the acidic foods you added today. Yours is such a big system that the worms will just avoid the area until conditions are right. ~ Sandra

I might be wrong. Seams to me ,cut up and freeze fruit . Then make a smoothie as needed.

That's a great idea!💡 I'll have to give it a try. I like to freeze my veggies because it makes them break down quicker in the soil. There are certain vegetables like broccoli and green onions that if I don't freeze first they will grow a new plant in the worm bin.
