Captive breeding has been a central part of our recovery effort. Here, a family of Vancouver Island Marmots at the Tony Barrett Mount Washington Marmot Recovery Centre get a meal of wild forage from the mountainside, pellets, and carrots (a favorite). The young pups seen here will be released to wild next year to continue the recovery of this critically endangered species. Recorded by Dr Malcolm McAdie.
