Even in her current condition The BIG U is a Beautiful ship, she still looks sleek and fast which she was. this is the " Muscle Car" of all Ocean Liners. and a piece of American History that deserves to be saved and enjoyed by future generations, to remind them what this country can do when it puts it's mind to a purpose. Went to see her a few days ago in Philly. Still incredibly impressive, even from a distance and behind a fence. Such a shame she is being allowed to deteriorate. One of the greatest of liners...

My grandfather worked as a steward on this ship. It was so beautiful in its day. I saw her in Malta when I was in the Navy! So sad to see her in this condition now!

Excellent. A real treat. Faded glory but still majestic. Have seen her from the river, 95 and IKEA (live in the area) but never like this. Thanks for the good work.

I so wanted to win the 400 million dollar PowerBall lottery earlier this week, I would call Susan Gibbs up and say let's get this old Girl a new paint job and restoration. I'm just a Patriotic American that wants to see this ship saved. O she would be grand all fixed up. Just think of the future generations of Americans that could learn about this Crowning Maritime achievement. If she was preserved and opened for business as a multi purpose museum and other things. I go to Philly all the time and look forward to seeing her over in the slip when I pass by on 95. We need to continue to save this ship ASAP.

I'm not sure 400 million would even do it. I've heard 500 million and that was a few years ago. Even a cosmetic restoration of the exterior would be great.

United States: I once was the fastest ship in the World, everyone praise me because I travel 38 knots just to go to point A to point B and back from point B to point A, I helped the soldiers from war to home, everyone love me for being the greatest thing ever for the USA from movie stars, to presidents but everything stop, I use to have thousand to hundred than slowly nothing, soon they turn off the engines and slowly pull me into a dry dock, my line was gone, I stayed long as I remember, the time people being to take my stuff, rip me inside and outside, now I'm nothing but empty ship, my new owners are trying their best to save me but I know they can't, I just waited and waited, wait to be scrapped (death for ships) or be apartment like my older sister or a hotel, and out of my life, I wonder why they don't want me anymore, what did I do, how much longer I'm going to stay until someone rescued me, *deep sigh* I guess I have to wait until I found out. (I'm so sorry for my grammar, but I hope you like.)

I have an extra SS US model and am doing just that. Watching this vid and then re-creating it on the model. The first one I built is the way she was when on her maiden voyage. It will be interesting the two of them next to each other. But yes very sad. Much like the scrapping of the SS Norway and the cracked up SS Independence photos.

Dejon Jackson You mean restored by Cruise? The plan was dropped sometime in August 2016, due to too many technical & commercial issues. No plans to restore or save the ship. Will eventually be scrap, I assume.

Is you had the money to resore it, what would you do with it. It will never make a dime as a transoceanic liner, people dont do that anymore, they take planes. It would just be a very expensive keepsake.
