You had a great approach towards coming up with the design brief and covered the main areas that make a house a home. Having a master bedroom downstairs and taking into consideration mobility factors is also very insightful and practical. And YES, a shed roof is the cheapest roofing option just ensure the fundi overlaps the roofing sheets adequately and have the gutter done well.

Thank you for sharing details of your house layout. Im doing design with an architect, my needs are specific and clear... It is not necessary to make all rooms ensuite.. some rooms can share common bathroom, this lowers the cost. Hidden roof needs professional Fundis and a single poor workmanship can cause problem of leakages. The most potential is to give time and plan well with the drawings and space utilization. Put in your plan to install CCTV solar camera in the site, build temporary toilet for use of Fundis, build temporary store room. This will help you alot before you start building.

Absolutely stunning 😍 Another tip is to always have a complete bedroom and bathroom downstairs. This is convenience in case of aging parents or an accident and one cannot go up and down the stairs.. As a matter of fact making the doorways and the downstairs section wheelchair accessible is even better.

Since I was a child I was concerned with accessibility the two room toilet and shower was not a good plan. So glad things have changed hope the development multiplies as more people construct.

That is hard to estimate without knowing coverage and type of grass installed! Also, it can be very cheap if you use local folks vs hiring.a company!
