Thank you for doing this Derry - very gracious of you. IMHO I have always look at Derry as Canada's version of Eddie Van Halen. Derry is just an awesome guitar player and song writer!!! One of the best for sure.

Agree...he can keep up or surpass many of the 80s shredders.

Thanks so much for posting this - I have always loved your sense of feel for a song's solo - just great melody for the entirety of the song with a solo that just stands out without over-powering the song and a great mix of licks and sounds - GREAT STUFF !!!

Derry, thank you for taking the time to go through the breakdown. Growing up, I always loved the way you played guitar as you were a very melodic & colorful player, but with an edge. I've always admired a song that could carry itself on the music alone. The subtle hints of VH is spread throughout your music & it sounds great too. Thanks for being a great Canadian artist & sharing your music with your fans:)

Thanks for sharing this tutorial with us. I love your style of playing. Have you ever considered showing us as to how you play the song Bad Attitude? That song has a phenominal solo and I love how it builds up to it.

Playing guitar is on my bucket list. I'm a lefty and bought an Ibanez years ago but the fretboard was too narrow and it was hard to do fingerings. I have always been a big fan Derry . Can you do Those Were The Days? The outro solo is BEAST
@ronaldjones743 Жыл бұрын
I'm a lefty too but for some reason I play like a right handed player. Don't know why it just feels more comfortable. I guess I feel that the dominant hand should control the fret board.

So awesome to see! I love that song, glad you did it instead of "Say Hello" ;-) (though, how cool would the Derry treatment of Say Hello be!?!)

Thank you Derry. Great song and great album. I bought that LP back when it came out. I was playing in a hair band..mostly playing RATT, Van Halen..the usual. I played the band your album and they didn't get it. I listen and learned your tunes anyway. Question. What front pickup is in your Kramer and is it wired to sound like the in between bridge/middle strat position. Thanks man. ✌️ GT

Never knew this existed even though Honeymoon Suite writes outstanding music. Great band. Thanks to Derry for this! I'll be watching all of these vids now. I do want to know if Derry was influenced by Steve Lukather ( Toto ), especially from the parts at 11:42 ( with the " Hold The Line " style string bends ). Great post!

They’re actually Canadian. Had basically 1 US Top 40 and a couple minor hits in the top 100, but a decent handful of Canadian hits.
