It is sad. I met Eric and Graham for a long interview in 1981 where Eric was articulate and very gracious with his time. We bonded over such nuances as which microphone he used to record his Levi zipper on 'Iceberg' but I think the loss of Godley & Creme and the fact that he is somewhat of a recluse today whereas Graham is still touring, points to the fact that perhaps Eric never really recovered fully from that dreadful car accident he suffered in the late 70s.

Maybe there was not enough space on the original vinyl album for an even longer version of Feel the Benefit with a bass solo. Anyway, l i v e they needed a bridge, so that Eric Stewart had the time to pick up his guitar. So they inserted a bass solo. Probably Graham Gouldman jumped to the opportunity. He never got to do solo's in 10cc. Bass solos are very rare in pop music anyway.

Damn Stewart plays so full, and tight. He was definitely an influence on me growing up. I started playing in 87, I was 9 at the time. I was amazed with his timing, and playing. It was Stewart Copeland, Tommy Lee, and Dave Lombardo. I'm a professional drummer, I've played in death, and Doom metal bands.

Ah 10cc - The 'Studio' band who could sound better live than on their records! I do love those dueling Gibson Les Paul guitars at 10:30 in! I was fortunate to be invited to interview Eric and Graham in Newcastle, NSW, Australia about 1981 for a two hour ultra detailed programme I later made for FM Radio. Graham has admitted that part of the reason the band never reached the 'stardom' of other UK 'vocal harmony' groups such as Queen was 1) the loss of Kevin Godley & Lol Creme and 2) the fact that 10cc never really had a lead singer or a lead guitarist in the way that other super groups did. In fact, they were all gifted song writers, lead singers, multi-talented musicians and technical producers. I remember Eric telling me that his 1950s Gibson Les Paul was perfectly mated to his 50 watt Marshall amplifier. It gave an almost perfect sawtooth waveform. With everything turned right up, it offered him a perfect sustain which sounded just right. Someone needs to tell Mr 'Bus Stop' Gouldman the bass Guitar is not a 'lead' instrument. Haha!

Thanks so much for uploading this video. My older brother gave 10CC's "Deceptive Bends" album to me for my 12th birthday in July 1977 and it's been a major part of my life ever since. This is without a doubt one of the best epic rock songs of all time and it's great to see it in one single clip. Thanks again!

Am old enough to say I was young enough (17) to see 10CC play "FTB" live on their 1977 world tour. It was at Apollo Stadium, Adelaide SA (Australia). I was sitting in the 5th row. This was simply stunning.
