I'm back with another faithful recreation! This time I'm tackling the legendary groove of "Feeling Stronger Every Day" by Chicago.
Danny Seraphine's drumming on this track is so quintessential to that vintage Chicago sound. I aimed to match his renowned, driving beat on this cover.
I stuck close to the original parts, only taking one small creative embellishment in the final chorus to put my own spin on this timeless tune.
This was such an influential drum part for me growing up and learning how to play. The drums are so powerful that I genuinely thought there were two drummers being recorded simultaneously like Genesis does it. It is no small feat that the drums are such a noticeable, driving force when you are in a band like Chicago with Terry Kath (guitarist, vocals) and James Pankow (bones) playing incredible parts of their own. I was always tuned in to what Danny was doing on the skins though. And despite being a drummer myself, that's what drummers do, we listen to drums, I don't think I am alone in being focused on the drums for this song. I hope I did the part justice.
I had a blast learning and playing it note-for-note while adding my own flavor here and there. Stay tuned for some Elton John next... Can I Put You On?! 😎🎶
