You literally put into words the why of makeup. I’ve just gone through chemo and radiation and the changes to my body and the hit to my self image were side effects that I wasn’t prepared for. Kim Crane - I know the Beauty industry started a program from people going through cancer treatment called Look Good Feel Better years ago so not sure it is still around but maybe check online to see if they have a workshop in your area. They teach you how to use makeup to manage the impact of cancer and the treatments on your appearance.

It was nice knowing that other warriors felt like I do. 💕 the facilitators were very knowledgeable and kind and answered questions patiently and really took the time to talk to us. It’s just sad that because of covid we can’t attend the in person courses. But I’d highly recommend the program. ❤️

Looking GREAT at 48!!! My skin changed drastically at age 49, just a heads up. I thought it was the makeup, and spent $$$ trying new stuff. Turns out, it was my skincare that needed to change. A trip to a new esthician, and essences and products for dehydrated skin, made.all the difference.

Gorgeous! Wearing makeup (when everything is working well together) makes me feel so much better than no makeup. I wore makeup 90% of the time during the every day mask wearing pandemic! Hi Risa, 52 year old here. In the last 5-7 years I’ve felt confident inside yes, caring less about what others think. I have also noticed that my face has started to sloooooowly slide downward. 😜. I try to just keep on keeping on but sometimes aging and accepting aging has been difficult. I enjoy your tutorials and think you’re gorgeous. I have found for me, less is more as I get older but I love a pop of color and some liner! I’ll never put on a shawl and take to my rocker! I rock bright red hair and body con dresses! It’s important to have confidence inside and out.

I'm about a year and a half older than you young lady! I love your vibe and your message. For most of my life I reserved "make-up" for special events, nights out and the occasional weekend. At about 45 I started noticing the tone of my skin becoming uneven and my natural dark under eyes, more pronounced. I was in search of the best concealer (still am😉). Risa I’m so happy you mentioned the YSL primer. I just recently discovered it after trying all the latest and greatest primers that have been touted by all the KZbin influencers over the past few years. I can’t tell you how many wasted bottles of primer I have gone through. None of them seem to work well. I stumbled upon this one and the YSL is hands-down the best primer I’ve ever tried in my life. I’ve been searching for something like this and you are the first KZbin influencer that I’ve heard talking about it. Love this look. I so agree with you about brands losing their cool factor with certain influencers. MAC was so revolutionary and one of the only brands to offer a huge shade range for a very long time. Same goes for Bobbi Brown as far as being the first foundation range to offer yellow based foundations for fair skin tones. It was the first foundation that neutralized my young pink cheeks while actually matching the rest of my skin.

Amen!! Preach Risa!! I just turned 45 and winged liquid eyeliner has always been that make up that boosts my confidence. That was the first makeup I ever wore. I began wearing the eyeliner at 12, maybe I was too young to some but I loved it and it made me feel Beautiful especially from being teased and made fun of in elementary from being my tan complexion and being thin. That was a difficult time in my life when I didn't love myself much. Today I love my tan skin and my body I'm not too thin but I'm not heavy. I do love this look and I put on makeup everyday because even if for some reason I don’t feel good it always makes me feel better. I am in my late 70’s and I do the whole bit tight linings, bronzer, highlights, eyeshadow, liner mascara and lip liner and lipstick. I have had a few days where it was one of those 15 minute get ready quick, and I can do it but it does take practice. I so agree that you have to do what makes you feel right. I don’t think people are used to seeing people my age with makeup on, but I like it, but it’s OK with me if you don’t wear anything but sunscreen! Thanks 😊

Know the feeling of having a Birthday and wanting to hide on that day. I turned 50 this year and realized the same things you mentioned. I am currently reducing the use of foundation. I have realized for me, it's keeping me older looking. But I did purchase the Color Science from your other video and I spot use that on my Philosophy moisturizer. Way more natural and I'm adjusting to a more natural look these days. I want to love Mac, but it has ALWAYS broken my skin out! Love your video's!

I’m still a newbie, when it comes to makeup, I was raised by a Mom that never wore makeup, and it wasn’t until my daughter (my firstborn child) started wearing makeup and figuring things out for herself, and later she tried to teach me a few things, did I start attempting to wear makeup. I really DO like how it makes me feel (when I get it right, lol 😂) unfortunately I find that I get it right WAY less then when I get it wrong! But I’ll keep trying! Do you prefer the Nars color corrector to Charlotte Tilbury? I have been using Charlotte Tilbury in 2 with the Nars Radient concealer and the Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless Finish powder. Since I introduced the color corrector I am noticing a bit more creasing.

I'm 32 years old and MAC was the first high end brand I tried years ago. I bought Ruby Woo and fell in love and began to try other products and they never disappointed me, LIKE EVER! I think younger people these days really believe in CRUELTY FREE brands. While I respect that and am a HUGE animal lover; I have a dog and 6! ferrets and a cat that lives with my mom and dad; I'm not going to stop using something I love. I don't believe just because they're not a cruelty free brand that I am supporting animal killers or anything like that but I think that is 100% why we don't see more MAC on KZbin. Love this look. I can't wait to expand my collection with some of these products . I've been wanting to try quite a few of these for some time and I think it's time to try them. Little $$$$ pricey lol but I know it's gonna be worth it. Like just look at how gorgeous you look.

I’ll be 52 in September and agree…there’s a point towards the end of the 40’s where the skin noticeably changes. I believe a future video should include the prep…what you applied to the skin the night before and what you did in the morning prior to this video. As always, if you could do a similar Drug Store brand video that’d be great. With 4 teenagers I can’t afford just 1 of the products you use let alone the whole works. I love your honesty…it helps to know us middle age women aren’t alone.
