In our first episode of the new RIDE Season, we are looking at the Team behind the Team. As part of the Longines FEI Jumping Nations Cup, we talk to top riders Martin Fuchs and Marlon Zanotelli about their grooms. Andrea Hoenack and Sean Vard accompany the horses to every tournament and travel around the world with them. We are talking with them about their exercises and how they prepare the horses for the journeys and competitions.

Lavoro duro senza orari sempre in giro per il mondo! Oltre allo stipendio, credo che ci voglia tanta passione e amore per i cavalli. Un bravo groom è fondamentale per il cavallo e il cavaliere!

No matter how good I have gotten and how much further I intent on going I will always groom and bond with my own horses. It's part of building a relationship and trust.

while that’s admirable, once you get to a certain point it’s not possible. i can’t groom, tack up, untack, etc. 8+ horses a day and still get them all ridden. especially at shows, it’s just not possible. you need those extra sets of hands

@@elizabetheventing3827 they don't usually have 8 or more at a show. And grooming is part of bonding, I get help but not seeing the horse expect for warm-up and in the ring. Maybe we think it's okay but that's become a norm. Hey your opinion is fine and see it's value but let's agree to disagree and leave it there. Cheers and happy riding

Without your grooms, you are Not going to compete much less win. Pay them good wages so they stay.

Anyone knows how they keep them so shiny and any tips in how to cut manes and plaiting?
@helenhinds8581
@helenhinds8581 2 жыл бұрын
The horses are clipped all year round, and washed every day with a warm wet cloth, then something like ShowSheen is sprayed on. When trimming manes always start longer than you ideally want, as it's easier to correct mistakes. Plaiting is just practise, but aim for an odd number of plaits

Elbow grease. Daily grooming, good nutrition, appropriate exercise, fresh air. All contribute to a healthy horse, inside and out.

Curry the coat to spread natural oil. Pull a mane, don't cut it. Braid using yarn the color of the horses mane.

1:08 @fei Is that tape on the horses hoofs? If so why is it there and what does it do?
@pink44444
@pink44444 2 жыл бұрын
yeah that's tape. It's for the scalper to keep them in place (like hoof boots)

Well those horses are used for the sport only for few years and then they retire... the owners and riders care for their health that's why they switch to other horses so often..
