Seeing these footage i am always astonished by how large WW2 tanks were in general. Like even the M4 Sherman was a huge machine of steel weighting over 30 tons and it even had a height of 2,75 meters.

for anyone wondering: the dialogue is from the german movie "Fleisch" which is about organ trade. not sure why the video is about tanks... maybe because "Ersatzteil" means spare part in german and the poster came to the wrong conclusions :P the full dialogue in english: "What is man really worth? In material value in dollars and cents?" "For spare parts? Priceless! Almost all organs are recoverable: Nerves, tendons, skin, blood vessels, bone, the glands of the endocrine system, hormones, ferments, enzymes, valuable semiochemicals. And all of that is cremated or buried like millenia ago..."

Actually, to maximise the production quantity of military vehicles in WWII, the Germans never had manufactured spare parts as these would be put to making new vehicles. Therefore, those new vehicles which become disabled in combat, etc... would have to be replaced completely or spare parts came from other knocked out vehicles. so they really lacked spare parts in this regard.

I think it fits the theme quite well, it establishes the connection between quantifying the value of human lives (as Ersatzteil = spare part) and war in the broader sense, where lives also get reduced to something replacable like tanks.

Ich befürchte, das seit der Mensch Kriege führen tut, wir schon längst in eben so einer Gesellschaft leben. Der Soldat z.B ist der Waffenindustrie soviel wert wie seine Ausrüstung, und wie viele Kugeln er verschiessen tut, ehe er fällt, da die Waffenindustrie damit ihr Geld verdient. Dem General ist ein Soldat, ja gar 100 von Männern nix wert, da er einfach schnell 100 weitere nachrücken lässt. So wird die Kriegsmaschinerie betrieben. Das ist meiner Meinung nach mit Ersatzteillager Mensch gemeint in diesem Text.
