@gaudia39853 жыл бұрын
She seems to be an obedient child, along with her sister. Obedience is highly prized in the Philippines, since it connotes respect for elders. It is ingrained in the Filipino psyche that disrespecting one's elders is not only maleducation but insensitivity to the latter's feelings and self esteem. So you grow up trying not to cause this offense, like her sis says. There are cases of such offense being sensationalized, and more often than not, the offender earns public ire.

I phone them when I want to (read: max 1x a month). Yes, it's still shouting matches when I call them on the phone. They're strangers to me and the whole neighborhood thinks I'm not a good daughter. I don't care. I lived my life after their own bidding the first 21 years of my life. It's time to decide my own path.

It’s not easy but you have to make tough decisions in life if you want independence. I hear this complaint a lot from other Filipinos but none of them are ready to give up the security provided by their parents and start living their own life in their own terms. If your family is affecting you so much then do something about it. You’re an adult; live it the way you want to but be realistic about it. Either live with your parents and be provided for or take the risk and start living alone. The choice is yours.

I was in tears because I could relate to the 2nd bride as my mom isn't here either to see me get married. Even though a decade goes by it's still hard when you remember that you'll never have that mother daughter moment at your wedding.

Mine was there and she shrugged her way through wedding dress choices, said nothing on wedding day. So there are no guaranteed moments even if they are alive

@@joywebster2678 my mom was my best friend so I know she'd be overjoyed if she were here. I'm sorry that you didn't have that but understand not everyone does. I'm the one who it would've been my dad who wouldn't have cared back then.

@@mariposavioleta9007 my mother wasn't like that at any of my 3 sisters weddings, so I wasn't expecting it at mine, so much for your assumptions. She is 91 now and can't explain it still.

Glad the first bride stood her ground and got the dress that she like, but would it have killed anyone to just TRY a dress with straps? Mom might have like it sooner and who knows, bride might have liked it too! I am IN LOVE with the 2nd brides pick! (Even though it is strapless.) Personally, I just generally don't like strapless dresses, but the one she chose is GORGEOUS!

I'm a Filipino and I can totally relate. Even cousins are very conservative and effin opinionated. I started working in Thailand to get away from toxicity of the people around me. I had a day off once and traveled somewhere. I posted a photo of me wearing a cute little white dress and of course it's Thailand summer time and it's freaking hot so I have to wear comfy clothes. I posted some photos on Facebook and my cousins started calling me a demon and a prostitute. 🤣🤣🤣

When the bride came in with her sisters, but missed her Mom at her appointment I could SO relate. I was 35 when my Mom died of cancer 😭 and two years after she passed I was diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer. 😩 It's hard, but when she found her dress I also got goosebumps, so it was indeed a Heave Sent message from her angel Mom. ❤❤❤

i am Filipino and trust me this mom is as real as you can get when any bride-to-be is looking for a wedding dress...i can definitely relate to all the things that her mom imposed on her not to wear. i myself is still having a hard time convincing her about the "color" of the dress because she would not allow Champagne or Ivory for my wedding dress.

Yay for both brides! Two gorgeous girls in two beautiful dresses. Mary Ann resembles a young, fresh Lady Gaga, and I mean that as a humongous compliment. She is such a pretty young woman. And Jolie, a stunning young woman who will be a stunning bride. ♥️
