At home in Africa and abroad no one single figure has consistently fought for the emancipation, liberation, justice, freedom, and equality of the whole black race more than Olufela Anikulapo Kuti.

This was 1981 when the great Fela sang about water, light food, house, what happened to them. Fast forward, same problems are worse off today. Nigeria problems did not start today but way way back.

Fela, the perfectionist. The arrangement for ITT is fire.

that's true. but its clear at this point he's missing tony allen. the drummer is supposed keep the band in time and a few times he drops the ball, sets the entire orchestra back

@@nickandthecrisis some of the musicians from Egypt 80 were still musicians in training, and Fela's Egypt 80 compositions were infinitely more difficult for the rhythm section than the Afrika 70 compositions

He’s the ordained prophet , traditionalist and social crusader …. One of the greatest of his era worldwide but his uncompromising attitude did not make him greater than he was . He’s easily in the same class as the Bob Marley’s, Peter Tosh and other greats ….

Fela Kuti’s first tour with Egypt 80 (although at this time still named Africa 70) after the original Africa 70 members left after the Berlin Jazz Festival 1978. This band is good, but doesn’t have the energy of the original 70 on these versions of “Power Show” and “Cross Examination.” Compare with the Berlin 1978 show.
