Fela was a non conformist when it comes to music.....His music.....He didnt play what people wanted to hear.....He played HIS OWN music, his own way and people wanted to hear it! Thats genius!!! What a legend!!!! Missed so badly!

This brilliant composition by the legendary Fela Kuti has all the hallmarks of a Symphony with Four Movements. First Movement: Introduction of the melody with polyphony involving guitars, horns, electric piano, bass, drums, and percussion. Second Movement: Solo by tenor sax. Third Movement: Vocals by Fela and back-up singers. Fourth Movement: Coda.

No doubt about it, he started with Fela from the start. I'm talking about Africa '70 before Egypt '80. *R.I.POWER, brother Tony!* P.S: Courtesy: Ginger Baker (Paired)

I saw Fela and the Afrika 71 in San Francisco at the Fillmore and what was really interesting was the first two songs he did were both about 20 minutes long and took about three-quarters of the song to really hit the chunk hard. But then I noticed this next song fela performed about 5 minutes into the song the band would come to a complete momentary stop, switching gears effortless into The Chunk, the cosmic space of timelessness. It was mindblowing for those paying attention.

In this tune, Fela is advising that one should be wary of back-stabbers. Simply because one does not have eyes at the back of one's head. Or expressed differently, be careful of whom one trusts.
