I am deeply grateful to have found this lesson. My “frozen shoulder” returned after prolonged sitting, and it was excruciating. A kind of a magic is happening throughout the lesson. When I started the first roll to the left... it was so uncomfortable, painful in my left shoulder blade and up to the neck, so I was doing it gently-gently. All those sensations disappeared completely after 3-5 minutes of the lesson, and i was just enjoying the rest of the workout! You are one of the best Feldenkrais teachers on-line! Gratitude and thanks a lot!

This lesson is great- my MS spasticity is concentrated in my shoulders and neck, and after the lesson my neck and throat visibly look different as muscles move back where they should be. I can tell this affects my ears as well, halfway through I got the sensation of water moving in my ear. I will say this lesson made me super nauseous! Something about all the sensations in the neck and throat coupled with the movement of the pelvis. Wondering if anyone else experienced this- it's the first lesson I've had this reaction to. Thanks Stewart!

One more thing, is there a lesson to regain the natural cervical curve?✌️
@stewarthamblin
@stewarthamblin Жыл бұрын
Hi Luyz, I can't really answer this because it very much depends on what is happening with the individual. The issue, for example, may have to do with what is going on with the rest of the spine and how the person is organizing in space. Where is the pelvis, for example, in relation to the person's head in standing, sitting, reaching etc. Generally, its not a good idea to focus on a specific part (which may in fact be a symptom) but to look at how a person's habitual (and often unconscious) patterns are supporting the symptom.

Thank you so much for the lesson, I really enjoyed it. Two questions, when the palm is on floor behind the back, what part of the back? and in the last variation could we add one leg slightly crossing over the other to help, or are you trying to just bring legs along with pelvis. Thanks so much for explaining why this works so well! Dar
@stewarthamblin
@stewarthamblin 4 жыл бұрын
Thank you Darlene, First question - it very much depends on what the student is capable of without going into pain. Some students find even bringing the hand into the area of the back very difficult. As you get more comfortable with the movement I encourge my students to bring it higher up the back towards the shoulder blades but only if they can do so without pain. Second quesition: I think the answer is to try out your idea and see what happens. Feldenkrais often used to say you can do what you like as long as you know what you are doing.

Hi Carolyn, I think the best answer I can give you is to check first with your health care provider first particularly if its a recent injury. The movements in the lesson are all to improve the mobility of the shoulder girdle area. If you do try them then always go slowly and never move into pain.
