@@Movt_S Well, I was asking because my cat had panleukopenia 4 years ago, and I was wondering if he's still a carrier. I've adopted a second kitten about 8 months ago, and so far so good - no panleukopenia, despite them even using the same litterbox often. So I guess it's not true, at least not in my case.

I can understand you. I hope your kittens suffered as less as possible while dying. It is a horrible disease for the kittens. I lost 7 kittens and one cat to this FPV virus outbreak within just 1 week. I also got to know about this virus, only after losing 3 kittens. But by then, it had been too late, the rest of them became symptomatic too fast and then collapsed, especially the kittens. The older cat (~2years) was the last to go. Her name was Tuktuki. I tried to save the older cat by getting her drips and iv medications, going to the vet, but after 3 days of her suffering so much, she also passed away. And the way she passed away was horrible and so much painful to even watch. She had become very lethargic, almost to the point of not responding, just breathing, by then. At one point, I noticed that she is breathing very laboriously and the breath was very loud and strained. I was sitting by her side, watching her helplessly, when she pooped loose stool and just as I was cleaning it up, she vomited bloody vomit and suddenly, her whole body went into a kind of rigor, seizure-like. And with that, she gave up. It was so heartbreaking. I feel very saddened to remember her last days, how she used to look at me as if wanting to say that I am suffering so much, please help me. Please please get your kitten, cat vaccinated. NOW. It's never too late until your cat/kitten gets infected. The mortality rate is very very high, there is a very bleak chance of survival. On the other hand, if you kitten/cat is vaccinated, the chances of them getting infected is negligible. So please make the wise choice and don't let your kitten/cat die a painful and horrible death. Please!

@@snehamariyam5479 When my 3 months kitten got this virus I had to leave her 8 days in intensive care sonde feeding IV antibiotics but what really made the difference was using medication called Virbagen Omega 5 days injections and after 2 weeks 5 more plus vitamin E and probiotics in the food after she starts eating - they said it was so rare a cat to survive but this is the right treatment believe me

Unfortunately there's little we can do to help them, doctors can only infus them to help them fight off the infection. The rest is up to the cat immune systems. My cat was diagnosed with it, 2 days after the virus infected him, he died a day later in care. He was only 6 months old

That depends. Their immune system may not have created sufficient antibodies if they still had maternal antibodies present when they were vaccinated, among other factors that could affect immunization as well.
