I thought ESB was 'extra strong bitter'? I had this beer when in Cardiff last month. Nice beer
@jonbibby97555 ай бұрын
I believe it is either "Extra Strong Bitter" or "Extra Special Bitter". Usually depicts a bitter which is 5% or more

Our local Brewery here in Nottingham [Castle Rock] does that sort of thing for every pint you buy you get a stamp after so many you get a free pint..

Here in America we like them suckers cold. Especially Lagers but even Ales are served and drank at home cold. It's been 95 degrees here in Tennessee so maybe our weather has something to do with it. Even if you serve it up cold, it rises in temp pretty quickly. I don't think I have ever pulled a beer out of the fridge and let it warm up. I don't know anyone that does this either unless it's a high ABV stout. I have also never had a "Bitter". Never see any on the shelves. I would like to try one.

Bitter best served at 'cellar' temp, which is traditionally where casks are stored. About 8-10 C.

@@brettslater9330My last name is pure English. My grandfather was English decent and he met my grandmother in England. They married and he brought her back to the states. I remember the tea with your kind of biscuits but I have never been over to visit England. I need to fly over and experience the England way with brews. 😊

Yeah real ales aren't served ice cold in the UK. If pulled from the fridge and poured straight away you will notice the depth of flavour increases and the beer tastes better as it warms in the glass

Hi have you tested St. Pierre Blonde Belgian Abbey Beer against Leffe. I run them against each other yesterday, Same temperature, bought the same day. I could hardly notice any significant difference at all. But I am not a trained tester as you are. I did a search and I found you have tested each one of them alone. Just a side note. In my country Leffe is 6.6 ABV and St. Pierre Blonde Belgian Abbey Beer is 6.5 ABV. I do not know why they love to sell versions with lower ABV in the UK

Regarding the UK Leffe price, it's for tax reason mate.

Rip off Britain

@@Coxy-b34 But does it really mater. As I understand Leffe is 6% ABV in UK and the original version is 6.6 so Leffe UK tax is 1.1448£ (pr liter) Leffe original is 1.3068£ (pr liter) difference is 0.162£ In my country Leffe is on the more expensive side. So I do not drink it very often. But when I drink it I would rather have the original 6.6% version
@Coxy-b346 ай бұрын
@afre3398 The Leffe now sold in the UK tastes considerably worse than the Leffe 6.6% we used to get. I don't think it's entirely down to the reduction in ABV, there has to have been a change in the brewing process/ingredients too.
@afre33986 ай бұрын
@@Coxy-b34 The biggest factor for ABV, is how much fermentable sugar the yeast have available to consume during fermentation. So in order to lower the ABV they have to change the recipe. What I suspect is that some place in the consumer chain. Some people come up with the idea to lower the ABV and pocket the profit, because they take the same price for the product. If you sell considerable amount of Leffe the 0.162£ extra you get per liter does matter. They are short changing the costumer and robbing them of a good beer

When I hear “Double Dragon”, I think about a fun Kung-Fu video game from the 80’s.
