Thanks Oliver, glad you're enjoying the videos - most of the concepts are applicable to other types too, just the 747-200, like the Tu154, exposes more of the systems to the pilots and engineer rather than being fully automated.

Best explanation out there. My first flight ended up with both outboard engines off, since I had no clue how to manage the fuel system. It reminds me of the 727 system. It's kinda the same deal: your plane tries to kill you if you don't pay attention

I would like to add my appreciation of your videos, I have found the Felis B742 series fantastic. I find your thorough method in describing things very useful in understanding the way the aircraft is set up and used. I hope you will be making another video of the descent and landing, as I think this would complete the set perfectly. Again many thanks for all the effort.

Thanks Mervyn, and sorry for the delay replying. I'm waiting for Felis to correct some issues with the landing behaviour before recording the final video. I was hoping to have recorded it by now, but the landing behaviour still isn't correct. The good news is Felis is again working with the testers to track down the issue, so hopefully he'll get there soon.

Hello Graeme, Itoo echo the sentiments of other's on your great 747-200 tutorials. As others, I'm awaiting number 5 as well. I appreciate your attention to detail, in wanting us to getthe best experience flying the Queen. As a realworld pilot in the US flying B737 series, I'm quite familiar with Boeing style procedures. What you show on the 747 makes perfect sense to me. I also echo another gentleman, that mentioned he didn't have the 747 or xplane. I am the same. I was patiently awaiting the Justflight release. Seems now, that may be months away now. Seriously considering geting Xplane, jsut so I can enjoy the 747. One of my Favs. Thanks again for your hard work

Thanks for the nice feedback David, and sorry for the delay replying. Part 5 is on KZbin now, so I hope it was worth the wait. I had a very experienced 747-200 Flight Engineer help with the procedures as far as possible, and the product really is what it is thanks to his hard work making sure the aircraft behaves like it's supposed to do. I've wanted a 747 in the simulator for ages, and the Felis version does a good job.

Hi Graeme, I have watched all four of your truly excellent tutorial videos on the Felis 247-200, but I don’t seem to be able to find what is possibly the most important one of all, the descent set up and approach. Did you decide not to make one in the end? Would just complete what are probably a ‘legacy’ set of tutorials on a truly great aeroplane.
@ReflectedRealitySimulations2 жыл бұрын
Yes the 5th video is missing still. After release there were some significant changes to the ground effect/landing behaviour with the 742 that I really wasn’t happy with. (The initial release version felt very nice, but the ground effect was increased significantly for some reason in later updates). When I went back to the 742 to make the 5th video tit just wasn’t possible to do a reasonable job of the actual landing. Felis was working on improving it, but as he’s located in Ukraine the work has slowed down/stopped for obvious reasons. When I get some time I’ll check out the most recent version and see how that behaves - I really do want to finish the videos off.
@vutti28932 жыл бұрын
Hi Graeme, thank you for your reply. I only recently found out that the Team involved in the 747 are based in Ukraine, so obviously my thoughts and prayers are for a safe and positive outcome for them all. Great work…..and I’m sure I’m big enough and ugly enough to work out the finer points of the approach and landing. In the meantime take care.

Sorry for the delay responding and thanks for the nice feedback. Yes I need to learn how to use it myself and then find some time to record a video. I'll probably wait until XP12 is out of beta and use it as an opportunity to look at the 747 in XP12 too.

Graeme, Another high-quality, informative, and enjoyable series. At the end of the this video your mentioned a descend and landing video, will it be posted soon? Thanks Tad, I'm fairly busy at work right now, but I'll get the next video out as soon as possible. I'm afraid I don't have MSFS at the moment so can't fly the CJ4, but I will be doing a detailed series on the HotStart Challenger 650 when it is released.

Thanks for the effort you put in the video! One question is remaining, is it possible to transfer fuel from Number 2/3 tanks, back in the Number 1/4 tanks with the help of the Jettison pumps?
@ReflectedRealitySimulations2 жыл бұрын
That's a good question. In normal operation no, because you're not really moving fuel between tanks, but rather prioritising which tanks are used for engine feed. There may be a way to use the jett/refuel manifold to move the fuel around, but it's not something I'm aware of and would not be a normal procedure. There are a few 747 engineers on the Felis Discord, so maybe somebody there has the definitive answer.

Hi! Could you let us know where you get that Flight Plan layout from? It seem super useful to use when flying using the CIVA INS. Not only are the waypoints divided in groups of 9, but it also provides you with enroute DMEs you can use to correct the INS drift! Thanks!

That was done manually in a text editor :) so proper flight planning.
@ReflectedRealitySimulations3 жыл бұрын
Yes that's mostly done in a text editor. If you use the "BAW" format on simbrief one of the later pages has the list of waypoints, so it's easy enough just to copy them out and then group them. The DME waypoints are done by loading the route into SkyVector and looking at which DME stations may be useful on that leg. Doesn't take too long really.

Wonderful tutorial! I do have a question though, if you are taking off without fuel in the centre tank (as rare as that may be), would you still take off with all 1+2+3+4 pumps on and crossfeed valves 1+4 on and 2+3 off?

Yes, that's correct. No center fuel you'll have all the main pumps on, and 1+4 crossfeeds open.

Question how do I transfer to other way point like from 8-9 to -1-2/0-1 do I put the 9th previous way point as 1 and change the others or another way?
@ReflectedRealitySimulations3 жыл бұрын
The INS will go 8-9, then 9-1, then 1-2 and so on. All you need to do is make sure waypoint 1 is the "new" waypoint 1 before you get there. You can also do WY PT CHG and insert any pair of waypoints and it will follow that track, so 8-2 would then skip points 9 and 1, going directly from 8 to 2. You can also do 0-2 and it will go from the present position to 2, the equivalent of "direct to" on a FMS.
