Thanks for taking the time to do this one, always learn something new from your vids. After a dozen or so flights offline, I'm now comfortable flying with the INS and all the other systems in this thing. Laying down some miles in her now on vatsim and loving it! I haven't updated yet, might hold off as for me, the landing characteristics in my version are spot on. Put her down at mzfw plus reserves onto 24r into LAX in the dark last week and it was the most satisfying approach/landing I've had in 12 years of vatsimming! It's a great sim, long live xplane! Keep up the vids, cheers

Thanks, needed some practice! Yes the model did always lower the nose at low altitude, lots of X-Plane aircraft have this issue, but hoping for some improvements on the in X-Plane 12. The latest version of the 747 doesn't have the odd effects from 1000ft down though, so it a lot better to fly.

Hi… thank you for your videos. I use the fmc to plan my flights instead of the ins . All goes great for me throughout the flight, only after loc is alive and I move to ils mode things are not great . My aircraft does nt do a smooth descend in the gs once it’s green. It goes well for a while but then I am too high and it’s at 2000ft it does a sharp dive to shed the extra altitude . Could you advise what could be wrong.
@ReflectedRealitySimulations
@ReflectedRealitySimulations 11 ай бұрын
There were some issues with some versions of the 747 where the lift values were being changed dynamically on approach and this was leading to poor flying behaviour on the ILS. I believe this is all fixed as of a few months ago so best to check with the latest version.

@ReflectedRealitySimulations
@ReflectedRealitySimulations 2 жыл бұрын
The latest versions land OK, probably the best balance between bug fixes and flying performance. The very first release version did seem to land slightly better though. X-Plane 12 apparently has some adjustments that mean aircraft developers will need to do less flight model manipulation during the approach, so hopefully Felis will be able to further refine it.

hello, how do you put sids/stars for del and are on the 742? especially when you fly on Vatsim when they could change them while you're decending or the fir clearance when they may change your dep from the flight plan you filled, thanks
@Malloriak
@Malloriak Жыл бұрын
Hello, if you use CIV-A or LTN-92 you cant use RNAV sid/stars. So you should tell vatsim dispatch crew, that you are not RNAV certified and request vectoring. But some airports still have VOR-DME approaches/departures. Also you can put FMC in PDA settings, do fly over RNAV START/SID. But you should manage constrains by yourself

Great video! Quick question, how much deviation are you allowed if you’re on an IFR flight plan? Especially when turning from radial to radial using heading mode, I’m sure you get somewhat off of the intended flight path. Thank you in advance.
@ReflectedRealitySimulations
@ReflectedRealitySimulations 2 жыл бұрын
There's a huge margin of error allowed for. The airways allow 4nm either side of the centerline to allow for inaccuracies in VOR navigation. There's a further 2nm secondary area each side making the whole airway 12nm wide. For a 90 degree turn that gives you about 8.5nm distance from the waypoint while remaining within the airway. When you consider DME measures the "slant range" that allows you a DME reading of about 10nm at 36000ft while remaining inside the airway. (All simple triangle math) When the distance between VORs is more than 102nm the airway has to be even wider to allow for the error. Oceanic routings in the days of INS navigation were even larger with minimum track spacings of 60 nautical miles, 1 degree of latitude, hence why oceanic waypoints don't need to be specified to any greater accuracy than the degree, and that's only really been reduced over the past few years with RLAT. Hope that all makes sense?

Love your videos. My descents have gotten much better since I started watching. But of a random question. In one of your other videos you said you had a hotkey to show/hide all of the onscreen pop up windows. I have searched through X-Plane’s key bindings and can’t find it. How do you do that?
@ReflectedRealitySimulations
@ReflectedRealitySimulations 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Don, glad you're finding it useful. The Popup hide function is specific to the HotStart Challenger 650, not a generic X-Plane thing. If you have the Challenger it will show up as a binding for "Toggle Popups" or something similar.

Wow Graeme ! wonderful tutorial and again very comprehensive. Thanks so much .. what a tutorial.. hats off to you Sir. I was so curious to see this particular Video which is so great. What a landing which is so smooth. Would you please guide me through as from where should I download the supporting apps that you have in the Tablet eg Routes , Airports, Maps, Providers , charts etc etc I want to setup my Tablet just like yours :) Thanks ps. Also x plane seems like don't have realism when it comes to hitting something ?? and when I start it at certain gate it turned out to be inside the building :(((( so annoying which made me to shut the system completely because of anger and frustration. BTW the earlier question that I have wrt to smoke .. it seems to go away ??
@ReflectedRealitySimulations
@ReflectedRealitySimulations 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks John, glad you liked the video. The tablet features are part of the Avitab plugin. I have my Navigraph Subscription linked to Avitab for the airport charts. For the VFR charts you can download them from here www.faa.gov/air_traffic/flight_info/aeronav/Digital_Products/vfr/ get the geo-tiff versions and extract to the Avitab Geotiff folder : X-Plane 11\Resources\plugins\AviTab\MapTiles\GeoTIFFs There are some limits to what X-Plane does with collision models, but in general it shouldn't crash the sim as a result of starting at a gate that is too small. X-Plane doesn't have the ability to prevent you loading a big aircraft on a small gate, and that would be a really useful feature. Sorry I must have missed the comment on smoke. There are two things that can cause that in X-Plane. Firstly a wet runway with particle effects - that's an X-Plane annoyance, but developers can correct it with custom particle effects, although not too many know how to do so. The other thing that can cause it is the default smoke effect. Search the keyboard settings for "smoke" and see if you have a keybinding set for that. Hope that makes sense?

You can load the sectional, tac and flyway charts into Avitab by downloading them from the FAA (www.faa.gov/air_traffic/flight_info/aeronav/Digital_Products/vfr/) using the GeoTIFF option, then just put the files in to the Avitab geotiff folder : (X-Plane 11\Resources\plugins\AviTab\MapTiles\GeoTIFFs). For areas that don't have GeoTiff files available, one of the options is to use LittleNavMap to export a mercator chart, Avitab can also display those with georeferencing.
