He shied away after being called old and ugly. Back then, Felista would hide in the house and peek through a window when people came to her house. When Laoli asked her to do the vlogs, she said she was too shy and went back into hiding. She eventually decided to give it a try to improve her family's living standards.

He's her choice and it's clear that they love each other. He did not have it easy in life due to his father's financial situation. That was bound to have affected him maybe even in terms of looking older than his age(I don't know how old he is) so it was cruel of people saying he was old. Even grandma stated in grandpa's birthday preparation video that grandpa didn't marry early and was in his 40's and that he practically built the house they are currently living in by himself.
