The episodes that Jim Tyer animated, including this one, are always fun to watch.

Many people underestimate Jack Mercer because the only regular character voice he did for Paramount Cartoons was Popeye. However,he did very many incidental voices-including King little of Lilliputt(Gulliver's Travels),Smack the Mosquito(Hoppity Goes To Town)and more. When I first learned he did all the voices in Felix the Cat my estimation of his talents shot up high!

Originally shown in two parts- around the 3:30 mark, there was always a "cliffhanger" in which Felix faced some dire enemy or a certain fate; then, Jack Mercer would mysteriously intone over the end title, "What will happen to Felix...in the NEXT exciting episode, of the adventures of Felix the Cat?". Producer Joe Oriolo used a "package" of stock music cues Winston Sharples originally wrote for Paramount's theatrical cartoons between 1952 and '59. That's why it sounds "familiar".

Felix showin' off his plants is accompanied by relaxing strock production music from Winston Sharples from his longtime Paramount-Famous VIs Vis Harvey Films, as seen in"DAWG GONE"(Famous-Harvery). WHen the big bug grabs Prof.anmd Rock music from "PATRIOTIC POPEYE", the one after the spinach eating, that turns up when Famous did the multi-studio POPEES, is heard.

I caught glimpses of it as a young lad, but the most experience I had with Felix was a few comic books i managed to dig up while looking for Sonic the Hedghog and Animaniacs comics. But my greatest animation experience with Felix was in the early-90s movie... the title of which escapes me.

Not a terribly satisfying resolution. Although the bad guys' plan was foiled and they got walloped by Felix, the second bug took the gold plant and flew away. Felix didn't seem all that disappointed though, so I suppose it was alright.
