man I loved this song as a kid. We watched this cat everyday, along with popeye. Cartoons are not just made like this anymore. Cartoon network try to keep old cartoons alive, and I like that. Thanks for posting these, I just took a chance to see if it would be on you tube and sure enough, here it is! GREAT STUFF!

I'm a kid of the 90s (1989) and a video of this cartoon is one of the earliest memories I have. And every generation believes they had the best cartoons, including myself. It's a debate that will never end.

Tiny production glitches can do amazing things. I remember this cartoon more vividly than any other... at 6:32, The kangaroo's black nose disapears, Making it look human. Shapeshifting....scared the living crap out of me when I was 5 years old!.Looked at it again a few years back, alot of those same feelings are re-lived...Kangaroo popping out of the bag scared me, Felt bad for the robot...the robot was innocent then beat up horribly for no reason. 5 Years old in 1968.

This was the first "Felix" TV episode [filmed in late 1958], originally shown in two parts {"What will happen to Felix, in the NEXT exciting chapter, of the adventures of "Felix the Cat"?"}. Jack Mercer did all the voices, and Winston Sharples composed the sparse music score (in later episodes, his Paramount cartoon music cues were extensively reused).

I think this is a very cute and imaginative cartoon. Keep in mind that it was aimed at children, and children really loved it. If you watched it as a kid, watching it again will bring back nice memories.

I last saw this when I was in Los Angeles back in 1983. It was on in the morning on one of the stations there. I may have been 25/26 then, but I used to catch it before I went out for the day. Hey! You're never too old to look at any cartoons. I'd rather have Felix the Cat then trashy Jerry Springer any time!

From me,too, I'm 58 now, you're about 63 now! Right-y-o Ha ha aha!! (BTY the Right-e-Ohh ending, after Iris out and bakc in, isn't reflective of the true ending, which was: same backdriop, but here's what was THERE TRULY instead of an animated Felix saying "Righeeo"- TV-just TV then fade to A Still, NON-amated Felix, waving. Same for the long lost between-chapters grahic, too. Same TRANS LUX closing as you see. The permanent, definitive mid-chapter closing was a narrator (obviously Jack Mercer, the one popeyed sailer cast), intoning: "What'll happen to FELIX* in the NEXT* exciting chapter in the adventures of FELIX* the cat" Iris out. *Emphasis is as spoken in that announcement.. A-right-ee-OH!

That's when I first watched it, too. I saw it a little earlier like 72 on channel 11 (before it became 11 Alive in 76). It was a companion with Popeye the Sailor show that joe McCarthy hosted. Do anyone remember his Popeye show? He would be on a boat set and would ring a bell and shout: "Three O'clock and all is well!" God, I loved that show.

Pretty much my only memory of these cartoons is the theme song, and the shifting amoeboid shapes around Felix's face in the opening credits. A friend who's a little older than me, and also watched these when they were new, dislikes Felix's high-pitched voice. Now I can see why.

I'm mystified by the ending. Initially I assumed the Professor was forced into the spanking machine by Felix, but then it looked like he was intentionally punishing himself for losing out on possessing Felix's Bag of Tricks. Or maybe he's just into getting spanked for pleasure, and he's indulging in his personal sex kink.
