interesting! I used to make the same thing, but to hold the wick, I used a piece from a plastic bottle and drill a hole to insert the wick. The plastic floats above the water, so no wick holder is needed! I use water mainly for safety. When the lamp is accidentally dropped or turned over, the water will put out the flame instead of leaving a burning wick on the floor.

Excellent, love this video! Water in the bottom of the jar I believe will keep the glass from overheating and possibly cracking if the flame contacts the side. I would use water even if I had a lot of oil.

I carry a ranger grip 79 and did that modification with a screwdriver or drill bit and I carry a little pouch where I carry those things and I use it constantly for that, and my friend also made a Jam Jar Lantern that I gave him.

This lantern is an old prison trick, so I've been told! Using a small pill bottle, fill with baby oil, twist a wick from toilet paper, drill a small hole in the lid and light. This method is much better though, and definitely more oil friendly. I'll try this out next time, thanks for a reminder Felix, love the channel 👍
