I spent 25 years hand carving wooden spoons and kitchen goods for a living. I always carved green wood then dried it gently in a simple light bulb kiln. This was just a basic wooden plywood box with a top lined with foil insulation - wire rack at the top of the box - 4 standard shop light bulbs. If I wanted to slow the process I could unscrew one or two bulbs - moisture escaped through the gaps around the lid. It was a very basic setup but worked perfectly. You could tell when the wood was dry by the feel - warmth coming from the wood and by the sound when you knocked two pieces gently together.

I have several styles of Victorinox pocket knives. Fisherman, and the one you show here, are my two favorites, and I always keep one or the other in my pocket. 3:57 I would have used saw to cut several times toward what I want thickness of cup to be. Then used blade like chisel, down tree rings. Much quicker with locking blade that way.

Wow.

;) LG
