Always be nice to your kids, and always remember this, it's them who get to choose which care home you go into when you get to be a nuisance to 'em! I hope the lad grows up to love wild camping as much as you do Damian! I never knew my own dad, according to my birth certificate, he was 'some soldiers'! And that's not far from the truth either, treasure your kids, they aren't kids long mate! About twenty years ago I wild camped in Andalusia in the Alpujjaras mountains and moved around a bit for about ten days or so. It was september time and the nights were really cold, but the night skies were absolutely beautiful, the stars were as clear as could be! In fact you could say they were out of this world, literally! I suppose because of the lack of street lights etc the sky was less contaminated by ambient light than they are today! Anyway, keep going with the vids mate, I enjoy 'em tremendously!

Greetings from doon the road in Durham! I’m fairly new to your channel but what a find! I’ve watched loads of your videos in that short time! This one was a great one, quality time with the son! Memories that will last for ever. And I dare say, what every other parent should be doing, show kids nature and “getting out and doing a bit of wild camping” we all know it makes sense!

Thank you Steve, I got Christopher a gopro style camera and he used it the first time on Hallin fell so I hope he keeps it up and gets better than me one day. They grow up so quick and he will be chasing girls soon and might not want to go camping for a while. I hope he keeps the love for the outdoors and when he's older, bring his kids camping as well. ATB, Damian.

"these are not the 'wanderers' you're looking for .... move along" - totally cracked me up. looks like a beautiful day out for both of you. and i totally agree... much better being out and about than sitting in front of a pc/ipad/xbox. fresh air, beautiful scenery, fun times - what more could you ask for?

Great vid! Am at the lakes most weekends with my son not so much in the tent which i want to get into more but we've got a stealth camper. We do alot of hiking around there and Keswick and its only a couple hours drive from sunderland aswell. The best thing is they'll always remember the good times like that 👍

Hello Damian! In the beginning of this vid, I didn't see what was happening exactly, then I got to wondering why seagulls would be there, so I went back to the beginning to see white sailboats instead zipping around! You have interesting film techniques, and I thank you! So. You are a cousin of Tim Robson who often is seen with carlisle195. In the Big scheme of Things, you are my cousin! Carry on. Your saying of: "You know it makes sense" has and is helping me in my endeavors & plans! Thank you.

@Fell_Wanderer5 жыл бұрын
I like mine, its more comfortable than the prolite but its difficult to deflate. I can't get all the air out, thanks for watching. ATB
@acedecs5 жыл бұрын
I didn’t seem to struggle getting the air out mate it went back to almost the same pack size and fitted back in the bag. I’m going to use it all the time to see how long it lasts some people saying that the valve fails on them but to me it looked really strong and sturdy maybe they have done an upgrade.

Inspired me to go there last wkend! Camped nearby but were freezing as airbed went down. Do the sleep mats work?
@Fell_Wanderer5 жыл бұрын
Closed cell foam sleep mats (the cheap blue ones are an example) are the safest bet, they wont deflate but aren't very comfortable. In winter the last thing you want is hyperthermia and air mattresses can puncture, usually at the worse possible time. A self inflating mat like a Thermarest, even if it deflates will offer some protection from the cold as there is a thin layer of foam in its construction. Air mattresses are more comfortable than self inflating because they are a bit thicker but riskier to use in winter because of the puncture risk. What ever mat you use take with you an emergency space blanket, they take up hardly any room and will help keep you warm if your mat should fail.
@k956upg5 жыл бұрын
Not sure if I'd trust a lidl Matt as if it fails it takes time to glue & can ruin a nights sleep.. The Snugpack looks nice but I prefer something with leg room so I'm sticking to the Dutch hooped biv.. Them little heat shields make all the difference when cooking
@Fell_Wanderer5 жыл бұрын
The Dutch army bivy is bigger and more breathable, a little heavier but better in many ways. I worry about the LIDL mat getting a leak, used it about 5 times and has been ok. I wont trust using the mat in winter, it will be cold if it gets a leak.
