People wake up! History is about to repeat itself. If the conservatives in the US get their way, we will go back to the 1950's and beyond. It's happened before and it can happen again. Raise your voice! Take action at the voting polls.❤

The best thing they did in the show is give every character enough reason to be the way they are... I can't hate Hawk or Lucy or any one, just feel deep sorrow and empathy, especially for my sweet skippy!!

Thank you - the amount of people who seem to misread Hawk as some straight up evil manipulator or something is startling! He's deeply flawed, but that's far more because of the environment he was forced to grow up in than because he's just horrible at heart - I don't see how they could have made it much more clear that he cared about the people in his life, and especially Tim, much more deeply than the facade of invulnerability he'd built would let on. But yes, every character was really beautifully written, and they ALL deserved so much better. Truly, all of them.

In death, Tim saved his lover once more, as he had done so many times throughout their lives together, in ways big and small. Tim curbed Hawk’s drinking. He encouraged Hawk to get HIV tests and know his status. He helped Hawk grieve the death of his son. But above all, Tim convinced Hawk that love was a currency much more influential than secrets and lies. Just like he did at the end of the first episode, when he told Tim about his first love-something he had never told anyone before-Hawk let his guard down. Quote from Coleman Splide’s review for the daily beast.

And if anyone wants more information about the Quilt project - find the documentary "Common Threads" - it was produced by Dolly Parton (and her manager, Sandy Gallin) - the film focuses on the unabashed beauty of the Quilt squares and in those lost loved ones - who inspired them.

Johnathan Bailey does what Michael C Hall and very few other actors can. He plays gay, straight, drama, comedy, and musicals. His range is exquisite, and he does it all with aplomb. I watched him in Bridgerton, and he had me mad and yelling at the TV screen. That's just a testament to his extraordinary talent. He's rare, and bears watching.

Repeating this from other FT posts. I’ve sewn many panels and been to many funerals and memorial services during this horrid part of American history. I think this series helps to articulate inter generational experiences during the AIDS pandemic and post pandemic. I remember going to 2-3 memorial services a week back then.

I sewed a panel and saw the quilt for the first time for the March on Washington 1989. I vowed after seeing HBO's Angels in America that I would never watch another AIDS drama, it had just become too painful to relive. But this show was so important, and while still brutal, the pain is less brutal now, and more integrated into my emotional history. I'm grateful so many viewers didn't have to suffer directly the pain that we had to go through, but the value and importance of witnessing this honest, accurate portrayal of our history is immeasurable.

It is definitely part of the quilt, before it became too large for the whole thing to be displayed in one place. It was also cool that the Quilt's founder, Cleve Jones, was represented in the show during the White Nights riot. I was kind of hoping they'd bring that character back for the Q@uilt display.

Three takeaways: 1. It was devastating and beautiful that the ultimate expression of Hawk's love for Tim was when he let Tim go at the end. 2. I love how Lucy's story ended. Usually in a story about a married closeted gay man having an affair, his wife is *at best* an object of pity. But Lucy had her own desires and character arc, and I'm glad she was allowed to leave the narrative knowing that she deserved a lot more love and happiness than Hawk could give her. 3. It initially bothered me that Hawk never told Tim that he loved him. But I think at the end he understood that Tim had found peace, and saying "I love you" to Tim might disturb that peace, so the truly kind and unselfish thing was *not* to say it back no matter how much he wanted to. And that was truly one of the kindest, most selfless things Hawk ever did. (Having said that, if I were Hawk I don't think I could've resisted the urge to say "okay, but just for the record, I have been in love with you since the night we met" before Tim walked away for the last time.)

The reason why hawk reported Tim was because he knew that if Tim worked at the same please as him he would never be thw father he needs to be for his child he'd never be there and when Tim went to the hospital and seen baby Jackson he understood why hawk did what he did.

Actually, it was a lto more selfish than that. It Time were around t6he State Department and Hawk, there would still be the risk of Hawk being found out, so it was to Hawk's direct benefit that Tim not get the job.

First of all, thank you for your incredible videos, I enjoyed them very much. Speaking about the series, I can say that there is a desolate feeling in your heart, because you know that it was real and that it is very likely that stories like that of Tim and Hank existed in those difficult times, where loving someone of the same sex was seen as a crime, something that should be punished and vetoed by others. I think that both Tim and Hank loved each other intensely and with all their hearts. They both made different decisions, but they could never change the fact that their lives were different after they met. If you ask me, I think Hank had the hardest part, which is surviving and living your days thinking about what you could have done differently so it didn't end that way, but as we know there is no time machine, except maybe our memory. The greatest lesson of this series is to see the path that has been taken to get to where we are today and although there is still a lot to improve, we can only have faith like Tim and fight our own battles as best we can. Hank's final tears break his heart because for the first time he is able to tell someone he cares about how much he loved Tim.

@@urielt7 I disagree there. Focus on the fact that hawk really only THEN realized that he was in LOVE with Tim. And as Tim said that they will see each other everyday at work, that definitely hit a trigger point I hawk wanting to protect Tim from whatever possible and obvious future was waiting for him there. Also, he realized that he was ignoring his wife as he was getting lost in the love he had for Tim. This is just a heartbreaking situation man

I love you 2. Sweet funny sensitive. I loved this miniseries. Matt Bomer deserves the Golden Globe nomination and a WIN..

I’m going to miss Hawk and Tim. ❤ Hawk knew he was head over heels for Tim, and also that with them working together, seeing each other everyday, it would only be a matter of time before they slipped up. He also had to decide who to hurt: Lucy or Tim.

I think it's a very important message about being who you are and what happens when you deny yourself the very basic needs to live. Hawk was miserable his whole life, Even though Jonathan has no regrets he certainly went down a path that was sad. It's difficult to love someone who doesn't love you back or can't love you in the way that you need the heart wants what it wants and he sacrificed a lot to love Hawk. At the end Hawk is left alone with what I feel is a lot of regret.

I've loved watching ya'll's reaction to each episode. You both have me crying all over again. I'm still processing episode 8 and the whole series. Oh lord, I used up a lot of my kleenex on this episode. On a side note, Matt and Johnathan need to do a rom-com with all sunshine and rainbows . No death.

But you wouldn't see Matt's strengths...He plays that sarcastic, dark, "gotcha" humor so flawlessly...He did it in "White Collar"...If you want to see Matt do comedy, watch "Will & Grace" or "Papi Chulo"...That darkness is really Matt's forte`...

I made a comment after episode 4. I told you guys that I was obsessed by his movie! I would love to meet you two! Don't understand why Hawk was unable to tell Tim that he loved him.

I've watched it again 3 times and just now with y'all. So many tears. When he told he daughter Tim was the man he loved I couldn't believe it. Why didn't he just once tell Tim once those words. That's all.
