Yeah, it's difficult to do something like that, our values and behavior changes, but if it happens that anything isn't stopping you any more, then I guess there is no harm in that) I'm not an emo and I'm not talking just about emo, it's probably the same thing for other cultures, it's just how I think, maybe I'm wrong, but for me it's really relieving to be simple from time to time. I just can't be most of the times (and I'm much younger than you). And at the very least you don't have to have a "guilty pleasure" of listening to emo music, even in front of your girlfriend, I mean yeah all these hair dying and eyeshadowing might be a bit too much for someone, but come on, not music!
