I'm wanting to add felt to an upright. Did you just do this by instinct or can you lead me to some resources that can show me how to do this? I can't seem to find a KZbin tutorial for an upright specifically (only grands).

It was kinda instinct after seeing some other professionally felted uprights. I have another video on my page with the entire process for making my virtual instrument which goes over a bit of the felting. The key is to get it to hang perfectly between the hammers and the strings.

I believe it’s a Griffin rolling rack I got it from Walmart of all places 😂. The trick tho was these tape machines weren’t build to be rack mounted so I bought some mixer rails and screwed them into the sides of the machine

I think that’s a great method as well! Initially I was trying to figure out how to reduce the key noise and that wasn’t helping so I avoided it for this. After posting this video tho I realized that a lot of folks really dig the key noise!

The hammer and mechanical noise is trendy which means the nexts stage is tacky. A quote I heard recently I felt applied to felt pianos. It’s just been so overdone. Some tracks have as much emphasis on the mechanical noise as the notes themselves. Just my opinion, no disrespect intended. Like your vids

Yeah I liked a little a couple years ago but it’s too much. I love felt pianos to be clear, uprights or grands. Really cool you’re making your own sample libraries!
