Not actually, it’s about being in love with someone, who is not honest with you, and because of love you hope for the best and justify all the lies, but realise that nothing can help you’re relationship and still believe that dream that you build in your head, when got that feeling in you’re guts that something is wrong with you. I try to say that not everyone who lies is narcissistic, but a bad human beings, who let people fall down, when they discover the truth for themselves fully.

Lyrics back in the day were so much more poetic. Many artists, particularly in the 80s had some interesting lyrics. Lot's of metaphors and figurative language. I grew up singing things as a child that I had no idea were completely inappropriate. 😜

The slightly muted female vocal tones mixed with delay/reverb have a cathedral effect on the annunciation of the french wording, making it a haunting melody which both adds to and conveys the sense of languishing pain from the singers heart. Interesting fact about this song.... If you follow the pattern of the music on a bar graph, it reads like the sign wave of a normal heart beat until you get to the break, where it goes into full afib continuing ahead but finally returning to the normal rhythm for the duration of the song. All music comes from God but most people don't know it's on loan. ❤

There is an old French horror movie called “eyes without a face”. It came way before this song and could be where he got this title.. It’s supposed to be very good. I’ve always liked this song. Also from Billy, “White Wedding”.

I'm not a huge fan of punk influenced "new music" as it was then called, but Billy Idol has a really bluesy voice (and a really good guitarist). My wife and I both enjoy his music. Missed him when we had a chance out in Vegas, sad to say.

And that type of relationship felt empty but he kept trying knowing that love was dying. Then chose to leave her so she can be happier. Getting away from a toxic like relationship.

"Les yeux sans visage" is French for "eyes without a face". The song was inspired by a horror film. Billy is a poet, some of his less known songs are incredibly poetic - try listening to "Blue Highway" if you can find it.

This song is about how he thought of society and the way we all treat one another so badly. The “eyes” he looked into weren’t recognizable anymore (society). We all distract ourselves (on a bus on a psychedelic trip reading murder books, trying to stay hip) rather than fix the problems. And as long as we ignore it, it will keep getting worse. Also, they’re saying eyes without a face in French during the course.
