Generally guns aren't allowed in the UK usually unless you live out in the countryside and need to either shoot vermin or game like Grouse, deer, rabbit, partridge, quail e.t.c. whereupon you need a special license to obtain a shotgun. you can own pretty much any type of firearm here in the UK if you have a reason. With regards to pistols, they need to be longer than 16" which is easily done with an arm brace. Young kids obviously dont legally have access to firearms but with that said, most of the firearms used in gang violence in the UK are obtained from breaking and entering into peoples houses who may have one and then stealing their firearm and using it to commit crime
