Manheim floods pretty easy - that's actually a HUGE understatement. I've lived nearby all of my life and worked in Manheim for a few years, AFTER they made some effort to reduce the effects of flooding; multiple times our companies dumpster would float away from our parking lot after it rained and get stuck under a bridge down the street.

I have the biggest respecct for firefighters, emts, police, and solders. We always seem to take them for granted. When I was younger my Uncle use to be a Lt. in the fire deartment use to love riding in the rig when they would go fill it up.

I remember when I was really young my dad took my mom and papa up in the ladder truck. They were up really high and I thought they weren’t coming back down 😂. My grandma was trying to reassure me that they were coming back. Whenever I see a ladder truck I think of that.

If it's Manheim Fire Department, why does it say Hope Fire Department on the building???
@Kishanth.J2 жыл бұрын
It say Hope Fire Co. not Hope fire department. My guess is the fire company is called Hope. Company like an army company not a corporation.
@bryanleets19172 жыл бұрын
In Pennsylvania a lot of fire company were formed years before the township or boroughs were incorporated by members of the community. So the members would come up with a name like Hope Hose Company or Friendship Hook & Ladder for example. An later on when the township or boroughs were incorporated a lot took on that name so that's how you get Manheim Fire Department.

When was on a volunteer department, grade school fire safety day, a 1st grader asked a guy just out of fire training "why different hose sizes", the guy goes into talking about pressure & friction loss, the kid looked lost. An old timer on the dept. Stops him & tells the kid, big fire-big hose, small fire-small hose. Kid was happy.
