Absolutely enjoyed the content! It would have been even better if you had included Vaneeza, Iffat Omar, Amna Ilyas, Mehreen Syed, Cybil Chaudhary, Amna Babar, Sabeeka Imam, Sadaf and perhaps Sunita Marshal. The OGs in the game. Fifi was amazing and it made sense that she would host the talk. I believe that it would have been beneficial to incorporate more established models into the presentation. This is because these models are well-developed and refined, and considering that the video will be viewed by the international community, including India, it is important to showcase our finest and highlight Pakistan's strongest assets. Overall, I am so happy that Mashion has gone ahead with this roundtable session, really love you guys for this. Putting pakistan on the map for our arts as well, extremely commendable. ❤

I enjoyed listening to this discussion, and have a lot of respect and regard for any woman who steps out of her home in pakistan to follow her dreams, it's definitely a jungle out there. But in general, I often feel that I cannot connect or relate to our models or people from the fashion industry. As someone who has spent most of life in the west, I do not understand why the average woman of Pakistani (descent), the vast majority of who dress very modestly are not represented well in fashion. A Ralph Lauren designed an outfit for Malala for the Oscars, keeping her beliefs in mind. There are American hijabi models like Halima Aden, who work in mainstream fashion without compromising on their beliefs. Even a Kate Middleton, dresses fairly modestly, given the cultural context that she is a part of. If you are strong, true n firm, the world will make room for you. But this representation is missing in Pakistani fashion, which is ironically a Muslim country. I am all for equal representation, inclusivity and supporting all kinds of narratives, but the fact that our industry cannot be relatable to the majority of women of its own country, is something to ponder over.

Hijab is not a part of our culture, which is why you won’t ever see Pakistani models in hijab. Not to mention that the Pakistani women who wear hijab are from extremists families who don’t believe in gender equality or women’s rights, so they would never let their daughter work as a mode
@s.khadijahnazeer2477 Жыл бұрын
Ikr! I totally agree! No hate to these strong women, but if we as a Muslim country introduce more hijab-friendly fashion, people might change their perspective of the fashion industry. It was refreshing to see their views on body positivity but I hope they didn't condemn wearing dupatta and modest clothes like Frieha said in the middle of the interview, cz after all, that's not just culture, that's our religion.

This wasn´t up to par. I would´ve loved to see: Aamna Haq, Vaneeza Ahmed, Iraj Manzoor, Zoella, Natasha, Naveen Naqvi, Iman Ali, Sunita Marshall, Tooba Siddiqui, Aalia Bibi Latif, Zainab Qayyom and Neha. The girls that really saw the entire start. Even Fazeela Qazi started as a model. I remember seeing her ads for clothes. Naveen Naqvi was in Junoon´s video "Ni heerey", Zoella was in Ali Haider´s "Jaania" and Neha was in Ali Sher´s hit "Main te mann laiyee haar". Almost all of the above names were in one or two music videos of the 90´s. I don´t know many of the new era models, but Rabia Butt is someone who OUTSHINES many people with her intelligence, grace and sheer realness. I would not want to see the likes of Sadaf Kanwal or Aamna Ilyaas, because they proved their immature nature in H.S.Y´s show. It was like stepping back to high-school mean girls. Pakistan needs educated people to represent us. In that sense, Iman Ali isn´t relevant either, because she´s too busy playing a role and going on about how much she loves herself.

I appreciate as the models openly spoke about the issues, the moderator has also done a good job. But I would say that one speaks, other should let complete the opinion and then give other a chance. There were certain points where two models were interrupted without the interpreter asking for cutting them or changing the question. The moderator also introduced some more others less in intro. I hope it gets better next time.

This kind of conversation is so overdue, congratulations to Mashion for a fantastic decision to post this. We're all of us personalities adapted to our specific professions. We all work hard, we have to make bold decisions, and we live with our difficult circumstances. The lives that models and TV and film professionals live are probably harder than others. Lives are exposed to scrutiny by a very unforgiving public. This is on top of impossible expectations, physically grueling and mentally taxing circumstances, unreliable career growth and remuneration. To add judgement fueled by insecurity and ignorance just ups the challenge level. I apologise for my former poorly informed opinion, formed perhaps as a teen, and not reframed until hearing all of you just now. After getting over my sheepishness, I take my hat of to you. Be good, do good, keep working hard and best of luck - you have changed at least one person's mindset forever.

Trinette would be a great success if abroad. Mash´Allah, she´s pretty! Regular people LOVE the dusky persons here in the West (but the fashion industry is racist). I just don´t know what her height is, but you need to be minimum 5´8 for catalogue, and minimum 5´9 for runway. She would easily be chosen for makeup brands like "Fenty", "Nars", "Bobbi Brown" and even clothes brands like H&M, United colours of Benetton etc. The only thing is, it´s a really really awful business to be in. Predators everywhere, and sick ideals (racism, anorexia, bulimia and human trafficking is rife). In that aspect, modelling in Pakistan is a much safer choice. Why go to an industry that is instrumental in perpetuating the idea that all of us from Asia and Africa are somehow "not beautiful"? The money? Oh well, then you´ll do anything, if money is your lord.

The two women, sitting on the right hand and far left never got to speak. Those 2-3 models kept answering all questions and it’s horrible on the part of the moderators that she couldn’t direct the questions to both of them ( one in silk red top and one in purple ) and promote them to share their views and gently hush the over talking ones. The moderator also kept looking on iPad to refer notes. This is barely an hour interview , remember the questions or take quick looks …instead of reading it word by word.
