She shot a dude like twice in the back while he was on the ground after she TAZERED him because "i thought he was reaching for a gun in his jacket". There is not a state in the union that requires citizens to show ID just becauae an officer asked them. It's misleading to talk about stop and ID laws as if there are states where the Bill of Rights doesnt apply.

Suspicious is not a real word. It's their way to get everything the police officer wants.
@mattjack39839 ай бұрын
Well, it's a real word. It's just not a lawfully valid reason to detain someone and force them to ID. Being "suspicious" isn't illegal. As a former police officer for almost 9 years, a "suspicious" person might draw my attention, but I'm not going to detain them on grounds of "being suspicious". That is just a waste of time. That's what is called a "fishing expedition", and way too many police officers go on these useless fishing expeditions instead of doing real police work, and focusing their efforts where crime actually is taking place.

There are no US States that allow a police officer to demand your ID without probably cause or Reasonable Articulable Suspicion of a Crime Committed, Being Committed or About to be Committed. So in effect there is no such thing as a stop and ID state. In Texas for example Penal Code 38.02 states that you do not have to show ID unless you have been lawfully arrested. Also it is an offence to show false ID when asked as a witness. But the one thing that cannot be done is have your phone taken from you without a warrant even if the cops want any footage.

She was a disrespectful, but her intentions were good. If people made a complaint, she responded to a call and was trying to help keep people remain safe. If the management didn't release a notice to the residents and a bunch of men were going in and out of the buildings, I'd rather be safe than sorry. Too many scams going on and without proper notice, who's to say they were legit and not scoping out the place. If a cop ever asked me for an ID, I would give it, because I have respect for all cops. I don't pick and choose who to act up in front of and record when confronted.

They are Indefensible. I'll admit there ARE probably a few municipalities around the country, (almost exclusively tiny towns) that aren't completely corrupt. But Chicago is NOT one of them...
@thebatmanofneo-gotham56679 ай бұрын
Really? So you're willing to give up your I.D. to an officer, even though you haven't committed a crime? Nor does the officer have a reasonable articulable suspiction of you committing a crime? You have no idea how silly that sounds at all. And also, your line of "I have respect for all cops" is very naive and close-minded. Not sure if you're aware, but not every cop is a respectful law enforcer who'll care about your constitutional rights. If that were true, then we wouldn't be hearing cases about filing lawsuits against them, nor recordings of them literally violating people's rights for any dumb reason they have. And lastly, why are you even defending this particular woman officer, anyway? You clearly see that she's verbally escalating the situation by raising her voice and yelling at the men. That's not the sign of a composed law enforcer. One of an officer's duties is to de-escalate, and she completely failed in doing so.
