I was an SJU admin back when this video was uploaded. and actually made a few of the infographics shown in the video myself. While what SJU did is ethically ambiguous considering all the layers of irony we concealed everything we did under, virtually everyone involved simply did it for the fun and the thrill of the troll. The lengths that some admins went to create bait content for no monetary return is honestly really embarrassing to think back on. While SJU was the troll’s paradise that I had always dreamed of, it was inherently toxic, and Katie took it to the next level. If I took anything away from my time in SJU, it’s that way too many people have no media literacy and are way too easily manipulated. To anyone reading this comment, please constantly question every single thing you see online, life is too short to overreact to bait on the internet.

Thanks for making such an excellent video. I wish that a few friends of mine could've seen it when it first came out. A year on, I don't see many copycats trying to make money, but I see plenty trying to change opinions. And they have, as has this terrible individual. Katie has led to even more anger and support on the Right/Alt-Right which has led to abortions being illegal, and drag verboten, in some US states. All of the stupid and outrageous stuff that this general group makes has poisoned the minds of many, and it's beyond obhorrent. I don't think that we can stop this either, that's the worst part. Sociopathy can't be outlawed, and these ragefarmers are mostly above-board as far as I can tell. So I guess we're just fucked, and groups of people who don't care about anything other than themselves are going to erode at our society like this, completely confusing the "public perception" of many things on top of the damage that our current system is doing to people (underpaid, overworked, basically no medical coverage, etc). This is important stuff though, thank you for making it. Hopefully I'm wrong and too pessimistic for my own good, but wow, I feel like all we can do is scream into the void nowadays.

As someone who witness the decadence of society and how the younger generation falls to become more radicalized politically, this is too bitter to handle. People like this guy and JReg purposely mask their actual political beliefs as to not alienate their audience over trivial issues and let them focus on the content, as well as to be a more clean slate people can project their own opinions on. With these guys, their „meta beliefs“ or just „beliefs about beliefs“ are that more than one single Dogma is allowed to be held by people, they are pluralist and see no point in dividing people into neatly fit political camps. That makes them moderate in my book though… someone who is this absurd about political beliefs can’t be an extremist as extremist have to be inherently serious about their own opinions (imo). Most probably very Centrist guys, absurd people tend to have a bird-eye view on different opinions.

This gives me the creeps. When you have so many people that point at all these trolling accounts and use them as examples of how the other behaves, and how they're all monsters and evil, this truly gets ingrained into the political and cultural zeitgeist. So much so that it ceases to be trolling and actually becomes real beliefs by the easily swayed. We can't even differentiate between what is fake and what is real without hours of legwork. This isn't anything new, what *is* new is politicians actually taking actions and people being willing to do... Questionable things based upon it. (Going to fight in Ukraine...) The real question that should be asked is "what percentage of the "crazies" legitimately hold their claimed beliefs?" In this case, there are several examples of people who don't hold their stated beliefs. There is also a decent amount of people in the comments claiming that, specifically, one side isn't as crazy as claimed (but they *never* state the same for the other, interesting tidbit, though this video is also guilty of doing the same.) However, I can say, for a fact, that there are *many* people who are as crazy as is often claimed. They often get into politics. I know this because I have met them, in person, and (not all) many of them legitimately volunteer their time and push these crazy ideologies. And, nearly without exception, all of them claim the other side is full of crazies but their side isn't. So, at the very least, I can account for non-internet crazies, and that is usually a much higher bar that means they *probably* aren't trolling. Also, sorry for the necro.

I love things that make me think. This video is one of them. All the time I’m worried if I’m a bit too edgy or what if I’m actually on the line of becoming a terrible person for attention. The video really made me feel good and it made me happy to be who I am around my friends and I don’t have to subconsciously put on an act for them. I know it sounds cheesy but this video made me thinking all the best ways. I’m still really confused though, people in the comments will say that this is proof that trolling is an art form as if they’re speaking of it in a comedic and positive way while others say that it’s a tragedy that people die in the world and they’re overshadowed by people like Katie. Is there anything I’m supposed to learn from this? Is it that you should always look down on trolls in a negative light? Do you partake in said ask because it’s funny? A lot of these different statements really confuse me so I’ll definitely be spending a long time thinking about this. Good job.
