Srilatha Batliwala is a feminist activist and a researcher who is a scholar associate with the Association for Women's Rights and Development, a leading international women's rights organization. Batliwala has worked for gender equality and women's empowerment for the last 40 years through grassroots activism, advocacy, and research. Until the mid '90s, she focused on movements of poor urban and rural women in India. She then moved on to work in several premiere international institutions. Since 2007, Batliwala has been with AWID, and her work has been highly cited and influential.
